We run these guys out of town (just a figure of speech and some more than others of course) and then they do really well for other teams in time. So the question is was it just time they needed or a different environment? Would they have eventually had it click as well here had they stayed or did they need a new ear? Webster, Jack, even Patty to name a few.
His price range is going to be $2M to $6M (MLE) at the max. He's not proven he's worth more by playing at a high level for more than a few games at a time - EVER. I wouldn't mind re-signing him to pair with Maynor as a b/u guard. I wouldn't want this team to pay more than $3M for him. Otherwise, Elliot Williams is still a great solution for us at <$3M. But, I'm not sure whether he wants to start or not. His latest surge and good play have been with steady minutes playing for rebuilding Wizards. Does he want to do same as backup player?
Crawford, Felton (can't believe I just listed him), Camby, Kurt Thomas, and the Rhino come to mind from just last year. Channing Frye, for sure. Rudy and Sergio, perhaps.
I will agree with Crawford and Frye (at times) but the rest are either even or not worth mentioning. Felton has been better but I knew last year he could be this good and for the last 3rd of the season he was this good with us. By that point it didn't matter. Rudy I would take back for our bench gunner but I think his game is better suited for overseas.
Maybe. But I also think that many posters on this board fail to realize that young players who are willing to work hard, tend to get better until they reach their prime. How many times have we read a post that said "he will be out of the league in 2 years". I know it was said about Martel. Nate may have not been good at developing young talent, but I doubt that he stunted it. There is a big difference IMO.
While our bench is atrocious, we look around the league and see many good players that we shipped off. Jack, Webster, Asik, Cunningham, Bayless..... If only that were our bench!
I noticed Martell was shooting lights out five weeks ago when I posted this thread: OT: Martell Webster Has Found his Shooting Touch And he's had some big games since - including 34 points on 7-10 3-pointers against Phoenix recently. Not only is he 3rd in 3FG%, only .006 behind Korver, but he's also 11th in the league in FT%, tied with LeBron for 5th in the league in TS% at .627 (which is an insanely good TS% for a guard) and 10th in the league in ORtg. He's definitely found his confidence and now that beautiful form on his jumper is finally yielding equally beautiful results. I'm glad he's doing well. He was a good kid while here that struggled with self-confidence and depression. It's nice to see him turning things around. At this point, he's a bigger, more athletic, slightly better shooting version of Wesley Matthews. Although, Wesley definitely wins big points for being tougher, both mentally and physically. BNM
I'd laugh at any team who gave him that much... salaries are going down obviously I wouldn't, but my guess is he signs with the Sacramento franchise STOMP
With Martell shooting the way he is (I repeat, tied with LeBron for 5th in the league with a TS% of .627, among the league leaders in both 3FG% and FT%), I'd be very happy with 3-wing rotation of Batum, Wes and Martell. Now that we have Maynor (assuming we keep him), I'd take Martell over Jarrett Jack. Plus, Martell is still only 26. So, he will still be around when this team starts getting past the 1st round of the playoffs. BNM
We are in this weird in between stage where the age and kind of players that we want really dont seem to fit what those players will want in a new team. ie if the player is young, good, up and coming then they either likely will want to start or will be more than we can afford. If we stick to the young and "move the needle" criteria it really starts to limit our choices. I guess a lot that will also depend on how Wes would feel about coming off the bench.
