I think the Blazers will end up keeping Maynor and Hickson, and going into the season with pretty much the same roster we have now. Best hope, I think, is that we can work out a trade, and deal either LA or Hickson for a center. I'd like Gortat, Noah or Hibbert

I think the blazers will actually extend the QO to maynor. I think they will try and renegotiate his contract and get it squared away quickly. He will get around 2.5-3.5 mil per for the next 3 years.

It would be a huge mistake if Portland doesn't. Maynor has the ability to keep the pressure off of Lillard. Basically, maynor makes Lillard better; as crazy as it sounds.

This is what I was worried about. Maynors in limbo. His pricetag is going up. Hes pricing himself out of backup PG but hes not starter material. Hopefully other teams sleep on him.

I think a great situation is Portland actually has a bright future. Once a player comes to Portland; he stays as long as the fans and team still wants him.

if he takes 2.5, then you waive him, use up all your space, and then use your room exception to bring him back.

Would we even need to wave him? If we just agree to a price; just give it to him. I understand your point; but sometimes it's better to guarantee his return. Any "wave" is gambling. If we don't keep maynor than we pay much more for a decent backup pg.

you go to him and say 4 years, 10 million. He says ok, you say we're using our room exception, please hold. If you do it immediately, you lose that 2.5 in space.

Doesn't that eat into any cap room we have to get a FA we want to sign?

If Portland had some wink deal with maynor; then I'm down. It would have to be 100% guaranteed for me to be comfortable with it

Blazers are in a tough position. Maynor gels with the team, but he is probably getting attention around the league now. If I'm Maynor, I play out the free agent market to see how much I can get. If I'm the Blazers, I like mags idea and offer the qualifying while trying to work out a quick deal.

Can that qualifying offer be withdrawn if Blazers want to make a big offer to a free agent?

If olshey feels he can land something of value with the space it makes a ton of sense to let maynor go. You can grab a backup pg with the room exception after we use up our cap

I see this logic. HCP put out a list of FA Pgs and I was surprised how many there were. Still Maynor does fit in nice. Tough situation for Olshey.

I would not risk losing him. Who is his agent?

No it can't be withdrawn until someone offers him a contract.

If we lose maynor because we try and save money for free agents; we will feel the burn.

Oh, well if it can't be withdrawn, I lean the other way and say don't offer the qualifying and try to quickly negotiate a deal. I hate to see Blazers tie up cap space and lose out getting a big free agent for a back up PG.

Depends on the FA we sign. Especially if we get a good FA and are able to resign Maynor.
