Nicklas Backstrom and the Washington Capitals earned a third straight road victory to enhance their chances of making the playoffs. Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin scored in the shootout and regulation to give the Capitals a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday night.
