Let me ask you: do you think Javale McGee is a good defender?

I don't know why I thought it was a two year contract.

Above average yes but that is because the league is filled with really bad Centers.

I asked you for your idea of who we should be going after.

not saying I disagree with you. Just wondering who your idea of (Attainable) top level talent involves.

Bynum is out with the whole Oden situation. A lot of the others seem like stop-gaps (which we might have to settle for) or not better than the previous suggestion of Gortat. Overall the Center position this off-season seems really Meh.. Hopefully we go the lopsided (financially) trade route.

I am confused with this list. Is this for this summer? Okafor is not a FA.

I've become more and more intrigued by Mozgov as someone who can give us 25 minutes a night, and not be overpaid. I think he could end up a really good fit for us. Still leaves plenty of time for Leonard's development, and likely to be cheap enough that, were Leonard to show tremendous growth, would still be a great backup, and not overpaid.

That would be an awesome scenario! But we wouldn't need French Frye.

Interesting. Though I can't see him doing so with 14.5 million owed him next year.

So, by implication, your answer is "no".

Did you? I must have missed that. I'm not impressed by any FAs out there, but I did suggest this.

I agree with Blazerboy30 also but I see Gortat as close to a top-level talent. The top-top level is probably off-limits to POR so close to top-level becomes their max and a player like Gortat would definitely improve the team.

As much as I agree with him; how do you suppose a small market team can obtain talent like that? I doubt it happens via "free agency".

I see it being through the draft; usually with a lotto pick or by trades with a team that has their superstar disgruntled.

If there is a disgruntled star; then teams that have chances have a stock pile of decent cheap talent to exchange for a top level talent.

So in other words "stockpiling" role players with good contracts is the best assets to have; just in case a team has a superstar that is chasing a ring. Also you gotta prove you can make the playoffs and make it past the first round.

This team; with its current starters have a good shot at meeting all the criteria. They are still in the playoff hunt with a shitty bench. If we had maynor all season; we could have had 4-5 extra wins; which actually puts us 7th. If we had a couple other significant players; we maybe in the top 4.

Well ya know I do think that if the Blazers want to have a seriously competitive team for the championship again Paul is going to have to be willing to shell out the big bucks like he did in 2000. In other wards being in a small market the Blazers are probably going to need another super team.

Add someone like Mayo, Kevin Martin or Tyreke Evens to that as well or draft Glenn Robinson III and put Batum at SG.

In a topic about acquiring Gortat, and retaining pieces, he stressed not going after bench pieces. What's there to listen to? He's expressing something not entirely relevant to the thread at hand.
