I would trade back to about the 6th pick but that assumes someone wants to trade up and would pay the price required. Seems to me this years draft actually IS deep but it is light at the top. The 6th player has as good of a chance of being a star as the 1st player. (Could it happen two years in a row? Lillard was the 6th pick remember) At the 6th pick I would look at a SG like Shabazz (although there are questions with him) but I am always after BPA so if POR likes someone who drops then pick him.
I'd consider a trade with another lottery team + a player they have, but I don't like how that turned out last time (coughcoughChrisPaulcoughcough). But assuming Portland gets the 3 pick? Not sure. Oladipo from Indiana is nice, as is McLemore. I think it's too soon to say who would be good at #3 (workouts are a big deal).
Some positive developments, but once again this franchise goes another year without competing for anything. That's been too often the case since the 2000 debacle. Our expectations in this city are so low it's silly.
I was lazy in my explaining but the second half the season we have had a lot of games were it looks like were going to make a comeback and then we end up falling short. Figured it would be the same way with the pick.
thanks for setting me straight. btw, how is anything I said outlandish or warranting a "keep dreaming" comment? The big about how I think they're three players away from HCA, oooh lawdy mee, that's so crazy! Or the part where I listed players that are available (via free agency), and is based in facts? or the part where I said they'll probably just get a so-so player and re-sign crap? because I'm curious as to which part I'm supposed to dream about.
In this draft? I will admit I don't know; but from what I've read; there aren't any of those in this draft. Pardon my ignorance in the matter. Just don't follow college to give a definitive answer.
There is also the chance that Dallas goes on a big losing streak and the Blazers win most of their remaining games. 3 games back of Dallas with 9 games remaining.
