    Re: The next 'Pistol Pete'

I found this while browsing the articles section of nbadraft.net.[IMG]<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Spanish phenom Ricky Rubio has been completely dominating the competition in Spain and in junior tournaments for the past few years, but his performance at the U16 European Championships showed that he's just getting warmed up. In one of the most thrilling games ever in European junior competitions, Rubio had the most dominating performance in a U16 competition with a staggering 51 points, 24 boards and 12 assists in the Championship game. The 6-foot-3 point guard would not let his National team lose, nailing a desperation half court shot with 1.1 seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime. The game would end up going into a second overtime where Rubio helped Spain defeat Russia to the delight of 3,000 plus home crowd fans in Linares, Spain. He proved beyond any doubt that he is Europe's top U16 player and one of the top U16 prospects in the world. Now the only question is, can he sustain his level of dominance as he matures into higher level basketball? Don't bet against him.</div>http://nbadraft.net/2006u16championships001.asphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r56Clr1yQs

He sounds like he is going to be a stud, but I'm always worried about European players, because how many of them have looked like for sure stars but once they reach the NBA they never manage to become anything more than a guy who plays in garbage time.He may rack up huge stats in FIBA, but as we've seen with the WBC FIBA isn't anything like the NBA.

Never heard of the kid but that's some high standards to be looked up to in Pistol Pete. Is this kid supposed to be entering the draft or something?

those are some crazy stats for a 16 year old kid. Either he is playing extremely weak competition and he is pretty good, or this guy is just sick. I want to see him play.

    Re: The next 'Pistol Pete'

I'm getting tired of people crowning these kids as future NBA players. NBADraft.net saying he's the next 'Pistol Pete' is just irresponsible and unprofessional. What does it say about us when we are nosing in on players that are 14 years old? I can see hyping a kid when he's 17 and deciding on a college because thats always been the case, leave these damn kids alone.
