After they landed that recruiting class, 6 McDs all americans, Cal probably told him he wasn't going to get any run.

Pretty much. They just signed the best 4 in the country in Julius Randle.

Cal basically threw Wiltjer under the bus after their NIT loss.

In my bracket I have the Zags losing to KSU in the Sweet 16 round.

I never understood why Wiltjer chose Kentucky in the first place, didn't seem like a good fit.

    This is true.

Gonzaga would make more sense for him than UK, but in a perfect world, he'd fit best into Wisconsin's offense.

Yeah man, good people up there, my man Reggie Buckner who's playing for Ole Miss these days went there, and he just tore it up against Wisconsin in basketball today.

EDIT: Just looked up the #'s - 9 pts, 12 rbs, 5 blks ... killed those Wisconsin kids downlow...

Asked Elliot Williams about Manasas......... he said,"I don't know about football, but their hoop team sucked!"

It's over for the Zags. Probably the worst team in NCAA history with a #1 seed.

Haha, well, Elliot played for St. George's. He was one of those guys that got brought out to the private schools to play. Not to get too Memphis on ya but Briarcrest, St. George's, ECS, Lausanne, and White Station ("optional" not private, but more or less the same thing), have always produced great basketball teams, but their players are from all over the city. If you're talking football, you can also add CBHS and MUS to that equation.

In reality, there are only a handful of city teams that are good at ball (Ridgeway, Melrose, Southwind, East, etc.), and while they can be absolutely dominant (I think either Melrose or Ridgeway was #1 in the country a few years ago), at the end of the day the proportions are off. There are a ton of city schools and only a few private schools, and the private schools turn out great programs because they poach the city school talent. High school scholarships are a very real thing in this town, and a lot of guys living in the BHZ, Orangemound, etc. won't make it to the D-1 level, but they can get a good enough high school education to get them into college as a student. It's a weird dichotomy.

I wouldn't even start to go that far. They really set the idea of parody in basketball back a few years for the average fan, but there have been far worse #1 seeds. They really could have just as easily been a Final Four team, but they just hit a buzzsaw of a team shooting 14-28 from downtown. Realistically, they're a more complete, talented team than the overall #1 seed, and if they had played this one in a seven game series, it'd likely be a 4-1 tilt in favor of the Zags. That's just the beauty and the course of the tournament.

My Zags just don't know how to react from going from the hunter to the hunted.

That's actually a very good point.

Teams like the zags also have to really learn quickly on the fly when they suddenly find themselves up against a team with skill levels like they haven't seen during the regular season. Hard to do in a one game situation.

Looks like he's staying at UK. I still don't get why he ever went there. I'm in UK country right now. I'll ask around at work to see if they have any inside info on his decision. I also don't get how they're going to fit all these recruits on the team. I mean there are only so many scholarships available. They should just put a couple on the football team so they count as football scholarships rather than basketball.

He'd be a perfect fit with the Zags.

I always thought it to be disgusting when Calipari would berate Wiltjer for mistakes on the court when other players who did the same things wouldn't get the same treatment.

I guess Wiltjer kind of deserves that for agreeing to play there before he ever stepped foot on campus or met Calipari personally.
