You guys know nothing of Joey Bishop or Dick Cavett. This is why American culture is going to the dogs.
Late night talk has been dying for awhile. With the amount of access everyone has with stars now, it is not that big of deal to get a star interview. The comedy suffers as well since they have to come up with something five days a week. It is hard to match other shows that only have to do it for thirty minutes once a week. The DVR also makes it easier to watch better content at that time slot. I still love watching Dave occasionally, but cannot remember the last time I have watched more than a few minutes of any of the late night shows.
Leary is a thief and a phony. He was only ever popular with Tim Allen-loving schlubs. Even at his peak as a stand up comic he was reviled by his peers. Letterman revels in being a creepy jerk. I never get tired of him.
Agreed (about Leary). He's not funny, and much like Carlos Mencia, not well liked. Of the comics now-a-days who i just can't stand, (and he has a show now) is Anthony Jeselnick.
I'm not really sure where Jeselnick came from. I think I first saw him on a roast? Dunno much about him. Hasn't made me laugh.
What are all these names I've never heard? Oh you mean Timothy Leary. When the CIA opened the Reagan Revolution by replacing the controversial Tom Snyder with the silly harmless timewaster David Letterman, Snyder's next show was to be a debate between Gordon Liddy and Timothy Leary.
