I was going through some boxes of crap from my parents house and found an envelope marked:
    Dr. Cove (our family therapist)
    IQ tests 1986

I was twelve at the time and the envelope seems packed. I have no idea what my IQ is, should go through the contents, throw the envelope in the trash, or put it back in the box for some future quest?

IQ tests are a stranger's educated (or maybe not-so-educated) opinion (guess) as to how your mind handles a limited array of routine, daily challenges. In the real world such an assessment is worth about 17 cents.

The only one whose opinion should concern you is the man in the mirror.

Burn it. Knowing your IQ can lead to nothing good.

There's a good chance your IQ is different today than it was when you were twelve. Yes, I know that IQ is supposed to be a somewhat stable thing (in a "vacuum"), but can change with work and family environment, styles of parenting, schooling, etc. A lot has happened in your life, I'd imagine, in the past 27 years, so I wouldn't let that score define you.

Now, if it was extremely high then, and now.... well, you're asking for advice on a 27-year old IQ test from age 12.... you'd maybe be disappointed and consider offing yourself.

Thanks folks, I have decided to put it back in the box from which it came. If it was high, I would feel like I became stupider over the years. If it was low, I would have to accept that I really am a dolt. Instead, it will sit unopened in a box, like Schrödinger's cat. As long as it remains unopened, I am brilliant and incredibly dumb.

No fear, just a fun question came up in my life and figured I see what people thought. If I did open it, no matter what it showed, I don't think I would care 10 minutes later.
