That's what I figured, but he could see him anywhere. Why Portland?

I don't want him back. I don't think he can stay healthy and I don't want to deal with the will he/won't he bullshit again. Let the wound close. The Oden saga is over and we don't need to start writing new chapters.

If he gave in and returned, how much should we pay him? 8 million? 9 million? While he has superstar talent, and I believe in paying for potential as we did Batum and Aldridge, is anyone just a little queasy like me about paying double that due to potential?

The other side of the argument is that to be consistent and fair, if we overpaid Batum and Aldridge, then we should do the same for Oden, who has Shaqian potential and should be paid in Shaqians. Thoughts?

I only wish we could have seen three to five years with Oden, Roy and LMA play at their potential - still sick about the past...

Would I like to see Oden in a Blazer uni? I'd be lying if I said no. Would I like to have Roy return - maybe in a coaching capacity? I'd love it.

1 year deal, 2.5 million; second year team option for 8 or 9 million if healthy.

Let him go to Indiana or Cleveland or anyplace other then Portland for his return to the NBA. I'd love him back but its the wrong place for him to return because the expectations of the former #1 pick would be back upon him and any injury would send the fans into a Shark feeding type frenzy asking for his blood.

If Oden dominates elsewhere, the wound opens wide open and the saga wouldn't be over.

Can't set it up that way. The max raise year-to-year is 7.5%.

yup. I've no hope of him resigning with PDX but I do wish him the best including coming back and dominating. That some seem to be hanging onto their precious bitterness is expected... whatever

Dude...we went from the highest high emotionally when they won the lotto, to then the depth of sadness...people should be able to be honest about their emotions on the subject without being mocked about it

I think at this point, the only fans who would expect him to be able to come back and be anything more than a journeyman center are not large in number.

3 microfractures, almost 4+ years off of competitive basketball?

Yeah, those are sure all the earmarks for a strong comeback and "dominate" play.

The odds are against him, but he could still be an excellent center in the league. He would have to stay healthy which admittedly he hasn't been since he was drafted. It's still possible though. I thought we should never of cut him. It was a mistake in my opinion.

I think at best he could be a decent 10 minute a game backup center. If that's what he wants and he's willing to work for it, more power to him. If he's finally grown up enough to do the work, great. I agree Portland would not be the best place, it's like trying to share an office with your girlfriend after you went through a bad breakup. I have no fear he'll dominate elsewhere. Just not gonna happen.

If Oden dominates elsewhere Paul Allen and the city of Portland will just be in shambles. I don't know if Paul could go on.

if some fans want to put on their petty ass hats and blame the kid who went through those injuries/endless rehabs, I'm going to call them out/mock them for being pathetic douche bags. Sorry. Yeah it sucked for us fans not achieving our vicarious championship dreams, hell, I felt nauseous for hours following his kneecap exploding and then went through the various stages of loss. But it's not like he was initially injured playing some stupid dance dance video game as some have deluded themselves into believing and posting their outrage all over the interwebs. It was clear that he worked hard at coming back... dude just had very bad luck. The few fans who believe it's their right to lash out and blame him for experiencing horrifically bad luck reflect badly on the majority of the great PDX fanbase with some sense of perspective and human decency.

I wish him the best, but if you telling yourself it wouldn't be a kick in the nuts if he came back and did well, you are deluding yourself

Do you guys think Paul Allen went up and greeted him with a smile?
