Man! This is the most god awful music on the planet. Horrible lyrics, horrible style and a horrible twang on songs to try and make it rhyme. Literally no talent involved.

The only country musician I've ever had respect for was Garth Brooks.

I like bluegrass and retro country (pre-80s) but I'm not much for the current sound.

Garth Brooks was a crossover star who is one of the main reasons country is what it is now (bad).

Me, too. I've always had friends in low places.

I feel like most of the male singers sound exactly the same.

I'd agree with that, but that's just the accent. Some of the guys fake the accent just to be "country artists," sort of like how Larry the Cable Guy fakes his accent as a comedian, but if you're from Yazoo City, Mississippi or Piperton, Tennessee, then you'll probably sing with an accent just in the same way you speak with an accent.

Like I said, there's a lot of shit country out there, but the quality country, that tells a good story, is on point.

You know what it is for me? I genuinely like some of the guys who do country. I had no idea who Blake Shelton was until I saw The Voice, but I genuinely like the guy. He's hilarious, and quite frankly he's made that show entertaining. The banter between Blake and Adam Levine is why I watch the show. I couldn't care less about the singing. I also like what I've seen of Tim McGraw. Seems like a nice guy.

I agree with Zags though. The only country singer I've ever really liked to listen to was Garth Brooks.

I'll listen to any genre, it all depends on the artist.

    Agreed!!

On the other hand, without country music, we'd have no comedic music.

I like country. I like all kinds of music. It's not my favorite, but there is definitely some good country songs.

My wife likes country music so I watched it with her until I fell asleep. It seems to me that the current country music is almost more rock and roll than country. I even saw a drummer last night that had a mohawk! A lot of the female singers I saw last night are very attractive!
