Damn, those are some pretty serious allegations.

I hope this doesn't turn into one of those investigations that gets dragged out for months until people forget about it.

Everyone knew they were cheating. The Cam Newton thing was obvious, but the NCAA wanted them in the natty. Pisses me off that it didn't come out until now.

True. Isn't there an Oregon investigation going on though? What's the latest with that, and what years would that potentially span?

Nothing is going on. The NCAA hasn't said anything in a long time. And all they are investigating is paying a scouting service 25k, which is something that a lot of programs do. The only reason why Oregon is being investigated is because Texas whined like little bitches to the NCAA about Oregon grabbing some of their recruits. Supposedly they want to make an example of the Ducks, but who knows. It's nothing compared to the shit Auburn pulled.

So if Auburn's title gets voided, Ducks get the title by default?

I mean, they lost in closing seconds by a field goal..

What about TCU though? They finished the season undefeated with a Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin, and they also finished #2 in the polls.

I don't think you can just re-award the title. I think it just sort of puts an asterisk next to it, and life goes on.

I dont want a retro active title. Means nothing to me. We didnt win the game. Whether it was against eligible kids or not.

The SEC is the biggest group of cheats and whiners in all of sports.

    No.

Whatever team USC beat for their vacated title didn't get awarded the title. Those are the breaks. It was hilarious at the time, though, how the NCAA cleared Cam Newton in literally one day, while Oregon's investigation has dragged on for 3 years now, and with no end in sight.

    Haha that's great.

I'm all for rewardin' the best with dough. I think Oregon should also pay their players.

could be true. But difference in my mind re Oregon vs Auburn (not that I am condoning any cheating) is Auburn's alleged players played that season. The Players Oregon is under scrutiny for (Seastrunk and Williams) never played a down for the Ducks.

Unless the NCAA can prove that the Ducks payed players, or somehow benefited the players' families, I don't see how it's even remotely the same thing. My understanding, and I might be wrong, is that any number of major programs do and have done the exact same fucking thing that the Ducks are currently being investigated for. It is also my understanding that the NCAA hasn't actually made external scouting sources illegal and that the Ducks weren't technically doing anything wrong. The ONLY reason why this happened in the first place is because Texas got butthurt because UO recruited some players from their state.
