It's sad to see such a great player and warrior go down with what is likely a career-ending injury at his age. And I hate the Lakers, but I know greatness when I see it.

    Prayers for Kobe?!?

I respect his game but I don't pray for rapists.

He's a warrior - and a lousy human being. Get some perspective.

I know you guys aren't big fans of him, but this is really heart breaking for me. The guy was gutting out 48 minutes per game because this idiot coach wanted a 7 man rotation. First his knee buckled, D'antoni didn't sit him. And then his calf and achilles tightened up and and D'Antoni didn't sit him, and the finally his achilles just gave out. Fucking disheartening as fuck. Even on a torn achilles, he still stroked 2 free throws to tie the game.

Say what you want about him off the court, but on the court he was a fucking warrior. This injury is on D'antoni playing him 48 MPG the last 7 or so games. Fuck.

Was gonna say "repped," but apparently I need to spread around some love before that.

Agreed with your sentiment about D'Antoni and overplaying Kobe, but on some level, you have to wonder if Kobe had wanted it that way himself. Like you said, the man's a warrior.

I hope it's not career-threatening, and I was rooting for ya'll to make the playoffs and give us one of the most interesting 1/8 match-up in a long time.

When I read about the injury, I was actually thinking about ya Mamba... been posting on the boards w/ya since '03, and my first reaction, along with feeling for my Laker friends from off the board, was "damn, that's gonna put Mamba in a funk." Here's to a healthy summer recovery, a Dwight resigning, and a reinvigorated 2013-14 season... :drinkapint:

Sorta OT here, but in an odd way, I think just as much as ya'll should be rooting for Utah to drop one, you should also be rooting for Denver to drop one. The Grizz and Nugz are tied at #3, and if the Nugz drop one, the Grizz will play their starters and take out Utah in the final game of the season, but if there's no shot of the Grizz getting the #3, I can see a lot of starters getting rested.

I'm sure as shit that Kobe wanted to be in there, he is on record as saying that he wants to go all 48 because when he comes out, or at half time, his ankle stiffens up on him and he'd rather just play for it loosely. Yeah, you have to oblige your star player, but there are times, especially as head coach, you need to override that and tell him to sit the fuck down for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever it may be. After the first two incidents tonight, D'Antoni should have sat him, but didn't.

Nash is back on Sunday probably.
Kobe himself said he is done. It's over.

Warrior or idiot for playing through injuries. What was he trying to prove? That he was invincible? He failed.
This from the person was giddy when Duncan got hurt.

Would YOU have sat him down? During the game with the season on the line, were you yelling "sit him down!" Or "C'mon Kobe!" Easy to complain after the fact.

Exactly. When Kobe was hitting those threes, I'm sure you had a different story and reaction

    Revisionist history here.

No way I can prove this to you but whatever, but yes, after he crumpled to the floor the first time I would have sat him down and given him some rest. Would the injury still have happened? Probably, but playing him those minutes is fucking ridiculous. But playing im an average of 43 MPG over the last 15 games is idiotic and not worth the playoffs for. So what? We make the playoffs and get bounced in 5 by Oklahoma? D'Antoni should have been monitoring his minutes from the start. He's a coach for a reason...he has to make those tough calls.

When Kobe was hitting the shots, of course I was happy as shit.

The Laker fans at Lakersground.net are driving me nuts. They think they're living the worst season ever. Ummm this shit happens to US all the time! We had like 8 SURGERIES in one season. Lots of players missing lots of games. Our number one pick goes down and then his backup goes down. Our Superstar Brandon Roy retires after 5 years in the league. They don't know what misery is like.

You were happy Duncan got hurt because you thought it would make it easier for your team to win. What a bullshit bad attitude.
