So in your opinion we should aim for the 8th seed and a 1 and done?

I agree. I don't see a big benefit to Dalembert short term, and no benefit at all long term. As for any concerns of blocking Leonard, there's really no contracts under the new CBA that are "too long". For anyone that signed this past season to a new contract(not rookie extension), they only have 3 years left after this season. Two years and a big expiring if Leonard showed himself to be fantastic and in need of 30 minutes a night or more. Or, if Leonard showed that somehow immediately, then sure, you have a guy overpaid on the bench behind him, let's say Jordan, for example, or splitting time with him. But the combined C rotation of Leonard and acquisition(Neme, Jordan, McGee, etc.) would still only average 6-7 million a year. If you paid each starter and his primary backup that amount, you'd be right around the salary cap, so it's a solid figure.

I really like the idea of getting Gortat. Best center available to us and is on an exp contract that we could either extend if we don't think Leonard is up to it or let walk and get some cap space if we do. He is a great PnR defender and great at the PnR as well, good rebounder and defender. Not the best shot blocker but can effect and alter shots. I would trade the 12th pick for him in a heartbeat because I don't think anyone at 12 will be as good as him and I don't want to watch a rookie get limited minutes off the bench when we could turn that rookie into a player at a position of need. If we strike out and can't get Gortat then i'd go for a stop gap player like Dalembert. I'd stay away from underachieving players on huge contracts (Mcgee/Jordan).

As opposed to the current "plan." (neither make the play-offs nor tank for a decent pick)

The team needs to either rebuild - or try their best to compete. (and this is why I didn't want some yahoo who worked for Sterling as GM!)

I think I've seen reports saying people think he's a couple years older than 23. Would he be a quality starting center right away?

On the D end yes IMO, on offense decent IMO. And BTW this is an OPINION and IMO a good one, but anyone trying to be exact on how a draft pick will play out is fill of chit.

Can't find it anywhere and I can't remember where I heard it so I think it's safe to assume it doesn't exist..

If Greg would come back for like 2 million per year, I would do it, but anything more is a gamble that isn't worth taking.

I just think there is no way Oden comes back. Bad memories here. He needs a fresh start.

Of course Greg oden isn't that center. Last summer was a good move. We get to see just what needs to be filled. I have the utmost confidence of olshey. I think he's gonna surprise us this summer!
