Cabo is probably the safest since its all by itself on the baja peninsula and not really on any big drug routes.

Fuck that noise... we have something called the "Redneck Riviera" down here that is better than anything Mexico or Cali can throw your way.

Want white beaches and clear water? Check. Want a bunch of drunken nonsense? Two more checks.

I did pretty much every one of my college spring breaks in that area, and not only was it less than half the price of some shit like Cabo, but we had just as good of beaches and a lot of girls from SEC schools on the beaches and at the bars every night. Guess it's impractical if you're from the west/northwest, but damn, those were some times.

Are you talking about Panama City, Florida? That's the only place I have been to that fits your definition.
Also, my sister, as the head ornitholigist for the state park system would not be a fan of you....hehe Party people destroy the beaches and the endangered bird nests on them, like the Cuban Snowy Plover.

Yeah, that whole stretch, from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Pensacola, FL to Destin, etc. It's just a great place to vacation.

I know the partying must have some ridiculous ecological repercussions, but growing up in Memphis and going to college in New Orleans, that's an area that I've grown up vacationing in. When I was a kid, that's where everyone in Memphis did their beach trips, and there were plenty of family friendly beaches and accommodations for us at the time. Then in high school, that was where everyone celebrated graduation. Fast-forward to college, and we'd go down there for every break. Now looking at my parents, in their late 50's/early 60's, looking at retirement possibilities, they're looking to retire there.

Is your sister employed anywhere near Navarre Beach btw? Because one random day in the middle of the week, not giving a shit about our classes, I got drunk with some of my friends, my girlfriend, and some of her friends in the French Quarter. We then all decided to drive in my four-seater car, six deep, to the Redneck Riviera, and of course, in our state, we didn't understand the implications of just driving to Florida without any money or plans, so we wound up using a one person tent that I had in my trunk from a high school Bonnaroo, and we wound up staying on Navarre Beach, a nature preserve beach, until the following Sunday.

I only share that story to say that there was a great community of preservationists all along the beach every day, keeping us in check, who we had to apologize to pretty much every morning, and I was wondering if that wasn't where your sister worked.

Haha. How long ago was this? That would give me a pretty good idea. I have volunteered at her department before and worked some of her areas. When I did that, we worked between Fort Walton Beach and Saint Vincent Island. But Navarre is just a little bit NW of For Walton. There is a chance.....

A stronger economy and legalizing drugs would eliminate a lot of this violence.

Drugs are legal in mexico, along with strict gun laws. Seems to work out great!

Because legalizing alcohol had no effect on cartels in the long-run? Come on dude.

Portugal is doing just fine with decriminalization, other countries should strive to be them. Gun control is stupid though.

Man, I know Fort Walton well... we used to vacation across the bridge when I was a kid. We used to go to the Publix over there for groceries, and I even remember my brother driving me out there once to find some basketball courts to play on (not sure why I was trying to play basketball instead of hang on the beach as a kid, but hey, shit happens... was probably during March Madness at that time).

Not to hijack the thread (although looks like I've already done that), but that boring, rambling story I posted about Navarre Beach was in '08, probably around this time of year. I'm not sure when exactly it was in '08, but I remember that it was pretty hot out, but the water was still cold, so I'd assume late March/early April of '08.
