<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>1. Shaquille O'Neal, Miami: He changes the game. You have to gear your defense around containing him. He's an unstoppable force. Blah, blah, blah. You've heard it all before about the Diesel, who remains the best despite the fact his production has steadily declined. He's learned to pace himself for the playoffs, so you have to deal with him floating through the regular season, but his contributions can still win you a ring. He'll look for one for the thumb in '07. 2. Dwight Howard, Orlando: He'll be just 21 in December, but looks ready to enter the conversation when speaking about the game's top big men. He had more rebounds than anyone else last season, and his offensive game continues to grow. Getting in extra work with Team USA this summer is only going to accelerate his development. It's no surprise that Dwyane Wade, who would know, has called Howard a younger version of Shaq. 3. Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix: Had Stoudemire not required knee surgery last October, he might have already topped this list -- and O'Neal might not have picked up his fourth ring. The Suns excelled without Stoudemire but might have won it all with him on board, especially if he could've picked up where he left off in 2005. He put in the rehab work to bounce back strong, but it remains to be seen whether his body cooperates. In putting him this high on this list, I'm betting the 23-year-old is successful in his comeback. 4. Yao Ming, Houston: After coming back from toe surgery last season, he finally started to become the dominant presence he has long been expected to be. Yes, Tracy McGrady was out, so Yao got more looks, but it was his assertiveness that commanded attention. Check out these March averages: 27.6 points, 11 rebounds. Then he went out and broke his foot. With last year's cursed season behind them, the Rockets hope Yao can stay healthy and repeat as the leading scorer among centers.</div> :thumbdn1: http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/9625945There's more in the link.
How does Nazr Mohammad make the list? This guy doesn't know much basketball who wrote this or his basketball IQ is bad.
Dwight Howard is a PF, isn't he? Why is Chris Kaman 5th? Yao should not be 4th, and I think Ben at 7 is a bit too harsh.
Dwight Howard is obviously a PF. And as for putting Chris Kaman 5th, that is BS. He shouldnt be ahead of Big Ben or Marcus Camby. And there are a few more that should be ahead of him as well. As for Nazr Muhammad, he is 15th.....its not like that is good or anything.
Amare and Dwight don't belong here, both are naturally PF's. Yao will probably be the best center next season, he really stepped up his game last season when Tracy was out. Ben should be ahead of Camby as well, Camby is to injury prone.
1. Shaq2. Yao3. Amare4. Big Ben5. CambyThat's my top 5. I count Howard as a PF right now, until he developes his offensive game at least. I mean he has the athleticism, skill, and strength to play the 5 as well but he needs a better offensive arsenal before he tries to score on guys like Big Ben, Yao, Camby, Shaq, Big Z, etc.

If you ask me only players who have played center most of there career should make these lists, players like Yao, Shaq, Ben, Camby, Ilgauskas and so on.

About Amare being a natural PF being forced to play C - can't argue. But based on what he plays for his team, I classify him as a center. Plus his offensive arsenal can score on any big man in the league. Howard's post game is still raw, and he also had Tony Battie and Darko at the 5.
wow this List is wrong. They out Kaman over Camby,Wallace Illgauskas. And BRAD MILLER did not make the list here is my list.1. Shaq: Shaq is still the most dominant player at the center spot. His leadership and his playoff performances make him number 1.2. Yao Ming. The most underrated center in the league. Many people seem to forget Yaos stats last season. he put 22/10 last sseason.3. Ben Wallace. his help defense and rebounding says it all.4. Zyundras Ilgauskas: He got the offensive rebounds and scored efficently down low this past season5. Brad Miller. came off another good year with the kings putting up 15 ppg and 7rpg. Also another amazing stat is that he drained 34-88 3 pointers thats huge for player that plays the center postioni will continue on later heres the other 56.Marcus camby7.Mehmet Okur8.Nenad Kristic9.Chris Kaman10.Eddy Curry
Umm...where's Damp and Diop...I maybe can see one or the other not being on the list, but neither being ranked at all...Hell they could have combined them as Damp/Diop and put them in the top 10 for sure...I mean the stability at the Center position really catipulted the Mavs from a 2nd round or WCF exit team, to a team that made the Finals...This list is a freakin' joke.
Erick Dampier and DeSagana Diop? Are you kidding me? Neither are good enough to be top 10. Dampier dissapears half the time and Diop only plays half the game and is useless on offense.
