I read those comments differently. He seems all sunshine and rainbows, yet this team set a franchise record for consecutive losses, had no heart at home at the end and played no defense the last quarter of the season. Got nothing against Olshey, but he loves to talk and make everything sound great. Everything from Caleb is his guy to I always draft best available player. He comes across as a used car salesman to me. Personally I don't care what he says because I like the moves he has done. Lillard was an A+ pick and he was on the money trying to bring in Hibbert. So I don't care what he says as long as he puts together a wining roster. Meanwhile I think Stotts leach got shorter. Not saying Blazers should make a move. But posting this kind of record with arguably the worst defensive team in the league, one has to wonder how many of these seasons he can have before his name comes up on the chopping block. I figure 1or 2 more seasons of this and he is gone.
I don't think there is any question that if this year repeats itself he will be gone in April. The question is how much of an improvement does he need to save his job. I would say the playoffs and a huge improvement on the defensive side. I like him so I hope for all our sake they improve. It would totally suck for Terry if there are major injuries. Scape goat for sure.
I can't wait for draft/FA, but it's going to be tough doing the all-night tweet-and-post thing from over here. Quick and Haynes and Jaynes may be on their own from time to time--which is scary.
The draft will be from 5 am to 9 am your time. Do you get channels like TNT or is it on Armed Forces radio? When I lived in Hawaii they didn't have satellites yet. All TV programs were shown on the Mainland, flown to Hawaii, and shown there a couple of days later.
Really, people think Stotts did a bad job? His team was far more successful early in the season than any sane person thought they'd be. They had some minor injuries, and no bench, and once they lost some games because of it and were out of the playoffs, he did a masterful tank job, while developing and improving the rookies. I think he did everything asked of him. I am far happier with Stotts than I ever was with Nate.
Too easy to blame Kaleb. Hickson had no interest in playing defense and never will. Leonard is a loooooooong way from understanding how to play defense. I don't care who's doing the coaching, too many rookies and too many soft players left the Blazers with a donut hole defense at best.
While I certainly don't think Kaleb is any sort of defensive guru, you are correct. Our team is just a bad defensive team Lillard got better, but he was a rookie Matthews is a decent defender Batum is a poor defender, and I can't understand why everyone thinks he is a good defender at all Aldridge is a decent defender Hickson is literally one of the worst defensive players in the league, who doesn't even try Leonard sucks worse than Hickson, and never played defense in college either. Hopefully stotts and Olshey can light a fire under him to try Claver, Freeland, Barton all rookies that still need to learn a lot Maynor is not a very good defender Babbitt actually looks to be a decent defender, but is too slow footed to actually be one. He rotates very well though That in a nut shell was out rotation
Uh... He's not rotating. When he gets screened, he's simply unable to stay with his man (one, because he doesn't try too hard to break through the screen, and two, because he's slow). But you can call it "rotating very well" if you feel the need to give Babbitt some sort of positive praise.
I'm on a British forward base. Every so often an office has a BFBS (British Foreign Broadcasting Service??) TV, but mine doesn't. I can get "regular" internet from time to time, though. Maybe I'll just spend the night in the office and keep updating the webpage. When I was a kid in Germany we had the old Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (pronounced Ay-Farts). It was one channel that they spliced in programming from all the networks. Monday Night Football came in around 1am Tuesday morning or so. They didn't do all the cartoon blocks that a normal network did. I saw more of the "Greatest American Hero" than I cared to.
Okay, then the draft will be about 1 am to 5 am your time. I bet it'll be on the same semi-legal internet sources where I watch all my games (I dumped Comcast a few years ago). You'll see it if you want to stay up all night. As for Greatest American Hero, when I was in junior high Gilligan's Island was a new program. I'd watch tne new prime time episodes, tape delayed a few days because---I was on an island.
I'm not surprised by the end of the bench decisions made here. Nolan Smith had to go. No confidence. Jeffries will be replaced. I'd entertain bringing Elliot Williams, Babbitt and Pavlovic back next year but its going to be cheap!!! Lillard - Matthews - Batum - Aldridge - ?? Maynor - Barton/EWill - Claver - Freeland - Leonard Babbitt - Pavlovic
He has a non-guaranteed contract for next year. If we cut him by a certain date then we don't pay him.
At the end of free agency? Sure. First, we need to maximize our cap space and get those cap holds off the books.
