Sorry but it is unrealistic to say that Dame will be one of the top 50 nba players of all time. He isn't overrated if he doesn't reach their level. That was just a ludacris number you threw out. Dame doesn't have to come anywhere close to those numbers to not be overrated especially when no one is doing it lately.
So to shed the "overrated" label that some of the pundits have heaped on him, he only has to match the production of the best player of all time. Awesome.
I think Damian can win an MVP award in this league. I have no doubt. He'll be at superstar level next season.
So was Derrick Rose, and so was Kyrie Irving, the players Lillard compares better with at this point of his career in terms of size and ability to get to the rim, as well as hit outside shots. Simmons was just trolling, though, and I get why he does it.
I don't think he's overrated. The guy's had a remarkable rookie campaign. I was pointing out that he needs to show growth over the next couple of years to become the kind of player that can lead the team to victories instead of just leading the team in stats.
I think he's a really good player as he is now, but like Denny said, if he doesn't improve/expand his game past what he is now, he'll never be a superstar. he'll still be a damn fine player, but won't progress to Chris Paul/Deron Williams level players.
It's 2013, when was the last time Simmons was relevant? Been a while for me at least, but i go out of my way to not pay attention to him or Espn.
I wil click on his link if he can show me one NBA GM, scout, or coach that would rather have Rubio over Lillard.
It's only been done once in the last 22 years. And a PG shouldn't hog shots. So I don't expect Lillard to ever score 30 per 36. http://bkref.com/tiny/bYGeW
I still like Simmons...and for whatever he's become, I've been reading him since 1998 and keep loving the style, even if the content is pure troll sometimes. And if you guys don't read Grantland, the piece about the Iditarod that just came out was one of the cooler (no pun intended) stories and formats I've read on the internet. And it was immensely long. Even I was reading it going "man, how did he get his editor to keep it this long"?
Note that none of those guys averaged 6 AST per 36, either. If Lillard's expected to increase scoring that much, he'll just be another undersized SG.
