And Brown is...? We've had success with low level guys before. Look at Max Unger after all. I think Mama wants to go to either USC, UCLA(beast O-line building there), Notre Dame thanks to all the hype, or worst case scenario Alabama(who should stick to the south. They have enough fat guys down there. No need for California poaching). Jelks reminds me of DeForest in a way.
is there anyone besides Greatwood that you'd rather have evaluating O-Line talent? btw... Taven Bryan was offered while on an unofficial tour of UO. He's also being courted by Nebraska and Oklahoma. Not surprising that someone from off the grid slipped through the site's initial rankings once again, but with big name suiters lining up that probably won't be the case the next round of evaluations STOMP
Bryan relayed that he's being recruited as an athlete by the Ducks and could play either side of the ball STOMP
Illinois TE prospect Ian Bunting commits to Michigan. In the article I read he was gushing about them making it sound like they were always his dream school. Good luck to the kid STOMP
Coach Campbell visited with Cal RB Joe Mixon yesterday for the first time. JM relayed hopes that an offer will be coming soon STOMP
After attending the spring game, Bay Aea QB Morgan Mahalak picked up a Duck offer...chatter is he may jump on it STOMP
We will have 5 QBs. I think good on it so far: Mariota Lockes Rodrigues That one senior Hobbs. Good for the kid though.
Haines and Mariota may both be gone after next season. I think the odds are heavily toward Marcus staying for his junior year, but if he has an Andrew Luck-type year again, he'll be a Top 5 pick in the NFL draft.
...and Mahalak commits to the Ducks. They must really see something in him as I understand he's never started a game in HS... of course neither had Oregon's current starter prior to his Senior season. MM2's game film shows him being good sized, athletic, & strong armed while running a spread attack. Definitely should be interesting to see how his Senior year goes STOMP
while he still lacks a Duck offer, Portland DE Connor Humphreys showed up at the Spring game. Along with the other Juniors who showed up he was weighed and measured and raised some eyebrows coming in at 266 lbs (up from Jr. listed weight of 240)... maybe he projects inside where obviously the Ducks have need? STOMP
Ducks offer *4 Texas DB Nick Watkins. He's listed as a CB but he's also listed as 6'1 which is tall for the position... maybe he'll wind up a Safety but he looks pretty lithe/quick. STOMP
with the obvious need/interest that the Ducks have for DTs in this class, a NW kid from Idaho named Cole McGinnis has been blowing up and figures to draw interest. His Junior year he was named 1st team on both Offense and Defense. He's also the 2 time defending Heavyweight wrestling champ. Recently he was named the overall MVP of the FBU camp in Los Angeles where many D1 prospects attended. He's got the big frame (6'5 275) that Oregon prefers and a 3.7 GPA. He's also a Mormon, so a mission is a possibility... having other Mormons like Hamani Stevens and Idaho's Stetzon Bair on the team would seem to help. following the Spring game and practices, the coaches hit the recruiting trail pretty hard so you can assume we'll see a flurry of activity in the coming weeks/months. Along with following up/visiting kids they've offered, they'll be trying to get other guys they're interested in to come to their summer camp so they can see whats really what. STOMP
