I've read rumors on CNET that the new xbox will have a BluRay player (not a surprise) and it will also function as a cable box/DVR.
It sounds like that's what they'll be pushing it as instead of a gaming machine. Can't say i'd want to spend $500 plus Xbox Live for a DVR.
How the next XBOX can win the cable TV war http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-9020_7-57579656-222/how-the-next-xbox-can-win-the-cable-tv-war/
Just get an Apple Tv and Roku streaming box and you're set, no subscriptions for the boxes themselves. If they could figure out a way to get the NFL and NCAA on these things, you really wouldn't need cable or Directv anymore.
The one thing I see Xbox having over playstation is how they get updates for call of Duty 1 month before playstation. Other than that, I like the playstation interface so much better.
Yeah, i'll probably just get a ps4 and a new graphics card, Microsoft will have to really impress me to make me want to pay for Live.
I agree that it sucks, but also when comparing the two online interfaces Xbox live is much better IMO. With PS3 in my experience of online play you def feel you are getting an experience you paid nothing for. But I do think it should be a basic free online (which includes online gaming) and a pay model (like PSN and PSN+)
You'll have to wait to see what the Ps4 interface is like though. The current Live one is littered with ads, and psn isn't. Kind of a joke when you pay for one, and not the other.
They always seemed almost exactly the same to me, but the only games I played on both were Modern Warfare 2 and Madden. There were never any problems though, I don't see the point of paying for Live.
Yeah I'm def not gonna make conclusions on next gen based on my opionion of current gen. I havent had too much problems with ads. I only ever noticed the bottom right ads but those only made any noise or anything if I highlight them. I never spent much more than in the Play Games tab and Apps though.
only RROD I ever got was taken care of by Microsoft. The other problem I had was a DVD Drive which wasnt covered which sucked.
