First up is JJ Hickson. Last year's vote was 94% stay.

The problem I have always had with these things is it is not black or white. A lot of them are "depends" as in depends on how much he will accept and what role he will accept.

But the question is just should he be re-signed or not?

 

To me, the major problem with these things is that you're only looking at whether you want to keep a player or not. The real issue for a real GM is what am I going to get back for that player? I'm really happy with Damian Lillard and would put him at the top of my players to keep, but if he can net me LeBron James in a trade, I'd help pack his bags.

 

Well the idea is to be realistic. You know you aren't getting LBJ for Dame.

 

No, but you can bet the Blazers would get some really nice offers for him. My point is that a GM's decisions aren't made in a vacuum. Keeping or trading a player is related to what's being offered.

 

The question is very poor for JJ Hickson. The guy was great here and I like him a lot. But, he plays behind LMA, and he is going to demand a high salary. If he was free I would love to have him. Because of the overlap of positions and the salary demands he should go--for his sake and ours. Great player--wrong fit.

 

Second up is Elliot Williams. Last year's vote was 95% stay.

Should he be brought back on the cheap or not?

 

The Dude says absolutely not

 

If he was still a 4 mil per player; I'd still want him.

 

For the right price I am willing to take the gamble on E-Will. If healthy he could be a steal. IF if if ...

 

What's the least $$ we can pay EWill? Good roster filler I think

Next up is Eric Maynor.

Should we keep his cap hold of around 5.8 MIL until he signs the 3.3 MIL QO? If not should we try to sign him for 2.5 MIL at the end of free agency? (assuming he doesn't sign elsewhere in the meantime) Gambles abound.

 

Next up is Victor Claver.

Should we bring Claver back? (I think I know the answer to this one) However, would you throw him in on a deal if the other team specifically asked for him?

 

I think Vic's easily a keeper, and I'd give him ~10mpg at the backup PF position. Just by watching him move without the ball, you can tell he can play-- just needs to work on his shot. He's on a great contract too (2 more years at 1.3mil per is a solid deal for his contribution).

If only Joel had a similar contract.

 

I feel (well maybe more hope than feel) that Victor has a lot of room for improvement. Which is a good thing because I already like his game. And if he can become the 3 point shooter that his jump shot looks like he should be he could be a very valuable guy off the bench

 

Or even get consistent on a 10-15 footer. I think he could get that shot any time he wanted with his ability to drive and handle the ball. I could see him being an end-to-end threat like Iggy if he gets the green light from the coaches to rebound and push it.

 

Next up is Luke Babbitt. Last year's vote was 80% stay.

Should Babbitt be brought back at a decent contract or can we find better shooting for just as cheap elsewhere?

 

It blows my mind how many people are saying we should keep Babbitt.
