    Interesting read.

I think the guy was arrested by the police within our borders. Therefore he should be read his miranda rights and given a trial in the criminal courts.

If he were picked up by military forces on a battlefield, then he'd be a combatant.

About the CIA terror list, etc. Sounds like incompetence by the government, eh? Why would anyone think the government is competent?

The Obama Administration is who you need to thank for this fuck-up, and several others. His security policies and immigrations policies alike are terrible.

    One of our worst presidents.

Thank you to those of you who supported this Peter Principle epitomized.

Good point! I'm glad we didn't have Obama as president when 9/11 happened, otherwise we DEFINITELY would have had planes crashing into the twin towers. Good thing Bush protected us!

If the Peter Principle really applied to President Obama, he'd still be Senator Obama.

    Just sayin'...

Seems like we've had a few successful terrorist attacks on the USA since 2009 (Obama became president). Not so true of Bush's presidency after 9/11.

From the bombs in Boston to our embassies in Benghazi and Ankara. The guy who opened fire on his fellow soldiers in camp, etc.

    Bad President. Bad Leader.

The Peter Principle part applies to national leadership.

Yes, Bush was wrong for doing very little during the first hectic 6 months of his administration to change the policies and personnel that were put into place during the Clinton Administration, that were after-the-fact obviously wrong and deficient to the task of protecting against terrorist attacks.

What happened in the US after 9-11?

Tell me, did you give Obama ANY slack for the economy that was total crap during his first 2 years in office, or did you excuse it as inherited?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorist_attacks_on_U.S._diplomatic_facilities

Grabbed this list from wikipedia. Sorry, was too lazy to grab individual links for each attack. But here's a lis of attacks on US diplomatic facilities, date, and the number after is # of deaths.

    22 January 2002 Calcutta, India Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami gunmen attack Consulate 5
14 June 2002 Karachi, Pakistan al-Qaeda truck bomb detonates outside Consulate (more details) 12
12 October 2002 Denpasar, Indonesia Consular Office bombed by Jemaah Islamiyah as part of the Bali bombings none
28 February 2003 Islamabad, Pakistan Unknown gunmen attack Embassy 2
30 June 2004 Tashkent, Uzbekistan Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan suicide bomber attacks Embassy 2
6 December 2004 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia al-Qaeda gunmen raid diplomatic compound 9
2 March 2006 Karachi, Pakistan Car bomb explodes outside Consulate 2
12 September 2006 Damascus, Syria Gunmen raid US Embassy 4
12 January 2007 Athens, Greece RPG Fired at Embassy by Revolutionary Struggle none
18 March 2008 Sana'a, Yemen Mortar attack against US Embassy 2
9 July 2008 Istanbul, Turkey Armed attack against Consulate (more details) 6
17 September 2008 Sana'a, Yemen Two car bombs outside US embassy in Yemeni capital 16

It doesn't list bombing in 2002 in Lima, Peru outside US embassay that killed 9.

    Here's for after those

5 April 2010 Peshawar, Pakistan An attack near the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, kills two consulate security guards and at least six others 8
11 September 2012 Cairo, Egypt, Benghazi, Libya, Sana'a A group of terrorists storm the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya -- killing the U.S. Ambassador and three staff members. (more details) 4
1 February 2013 Ankara, Turkey A suicide bomber attacked the American Embassy in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Friday, detonating himself inside a security entrance to the compound. (more details) 1

But yeah, nothing post 9/11 under Bush. right

Naturally, I would expect al-Qaeda attacks to quiet down over time during Bush's presidency. You do realize that the al-Qaeda network had more "soldiers" and was more connected until the years we spent hunting their members down, right? So, as their population shrinks..... I would also assume as we're agressively hunting down al-Qaeda members on their turf, they're going to spend more time actively attacking Americans.

I would be curious to know, of the casualties listed, how many are Americans? I mean, if these people are placing bombs outside of US embassies and other buildings, in a crowd of their own people, and killing their own people.... exactly how do they draw a line between an attack on Americans and any other sort of attack? Not debating here, just something I've long been curious about. Media reporting does a lot to dictate history and our "truths," and one thing Obama and his admin have been great at are using/controlling the media.

Oh, I agree it's only natural that attacks would increase as we were mobilizing for war. Was just replying to his statement that post 9/11, we didn't have terrorist attacks against US interests. That's simply not true. Is it expected there'd be more then? Sure. And there were.

Not sure on the deaths, and countries of origin, but a bombing at an embassy would still be an attack on a US target. If the bombers in Boston killed a spectator from the UK, it'd still be a US targeted terrorist attack.

I don't think this incident in Boston has anything to do with the Obama Administration. Maybe a few of those overseas do as outlined in various official reports, but not Boston.

I don't think this is incompetent at all. I'm sure it was a conscious decision by them... and yes, I'm serious. They have the bothers on film planting the bombs and he was involved in a serious fire fight (also filmed) with law enforcement. He's also implicated in the murder of a police officer at MIT. If a DA can't get a conviction on this without a confession he's the one who's incompetent.

At the time they were trying to find out if there were other people involved and other bombings planned. It was more important for public safety to get those answers urgently than building the criminal case. OF COURSE they would give him some "off the record" time. And when they Mirandized him he stopped talking. I say the good far outweighs the "bad" in this case.
