...tune in tonight as Pat "Bam Bam" Healy, the pride and joy of South Salem, faces Jim Miller in the first fight of the main card! http://twitter.com/BamBamHealy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Healy_(fighter) http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Pat-Healy-6246 http://www.facebook.com/pages/PatBam-BamHealy-Fan-Page/246947375322393
He's an interesting cat. He plays the bad guy role like a WWE villain. I have heard him on the joe rogan podcast and if I recall, he seemed like a good guy. I think he has realized it's much more profitable to be controversial and interesting then honest and boring.
Now that I think about it, speeds, none of that shit is ironic. I would fully expect that the Republican con-artist from fucking West Linn is a racist. Not at all shocking.
Sonnen says what he says to promote and hype up his fights... make more money! It's all an act. Smart man.
I agree he is a smart businessman. Who knows if sonnen actually believes the crap he spews. other ufc fighters have said sonnen puts on an act and is a nice guy. Does it make what he said right? No, but what he says hypes the fight and puts more money in his pocket.
and by the way, a lot more money in his pocket. He would not be getting all these title shots if not for being controversial and entertaining. we are talking about hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Not that it's right for him to act this way, but that I understand it and I don't think it means he really believes what he says.
I'd hardly call him a smart businessman (he's had some terrible business decisions). But he is smart in his approach to UFC. I mean, if you're going to get destroyed, the only way to stay in the spotlight and remain relevant is to talk smack so people will want to fight you, and continue to want to see you get beaten.
