We need some quotes to counter these stupid religious verses. Anyone got the script from that great he-man movie, Jason and the Argonauts?

Except the Old Testament is where almost all the basis for what for what is considered sin and evidence against homosexuality. I don't disagree with your point though.

What was that great quote from Jason as he spread his legs from under his ancient Greek miniskirt and slew the enemy's monstrous snake?

I know what you are referencing but again the new testament says almost nothing about Homosexuality besides Paul's brief reference and Jesus's quote about marriage.

Again.....I understand the differences between the New and Old Testament and how they are applied, but again almost every single anti-gay bible reference used comes from the Old testament.

I get following Christ, he seems like a cool dude.

He certainly never mentioned being gay as a sin though, not sure why a christian would think that

Then the one referencing evidence from old testament is not very smart. I'll call them out too. Theres a lot of crazy things in old testament. Like a girl is basically exiled from society while on her period

Yeah one interesting aspects of attending a catholic university (though I didn't think so at the time) was taking biblical history and traditions classes. Absolutely fascinating to learn about the context of the bible and its authors.

When did I say that? I said Broussard should be fired for saying some stupid shit while representing his company.

And if you honestly believe that it's okay to oppress gay people because it's in your religion, then A) you weren't paying attention to what Jesus said, and B) you're trying to justify your own fear and hatred by saying it's in the Bible. Nobody is bullying Christians for being Christian because not all Christians have a problem with gay people. The Christians that are bullying gay people for being gay absolutely deserve to get bullied back.

"But it's okay for me to hate and oppress these people that I've never met because it's written somewhere in a book."

How is that any different than:

"But it's okay for me to hate and oppress Jews because it's what Hitler told me to do."

You didn't. Nor did I say what you said I said. Nowhere did I say it was okay to bully anybody. My intent was to point out that there's a double-standard in place now, where it's okay to bully people for their beliefs if those beliefs happen to be Judeo-Christian in nature, and that I find that double-standard appalling.

But when those beliefs are wrong, it's bullshit to stand behind a religion. I think it's wrong to make fun of/or bully Christians for believing in god or the bible, or whatever.... but when Christians are essentially trying to force those beliefs on people by enacting legislation that makes it illegal for gay people to get married, that's when they deserve to get shit for it.

You can believe whatever you want. You can hate gays. You can think they shouldn't get married, but when people start voting to make laws that treat one human differently than another, simply because it's "in their religion", that's when I call bullshit.

And in the case of Chris Broussard, he works for one of the largest corporations in the world. Whatever he says will in one way or another represent Disney/ESPN. If he says something that's controversial, he has to accept that ESPN might fire him. Christian or not, that goes with the job. Take it or leave it.

I think you're mixing up beliefs that happen to be Judeo-Christian with beliefs that happen to be oppressing. We find problem with the sentiment not because it is Religious or Christian, but because it is intolerant and hateful.
