If he can be healthy next season, we should go after him. He can defend, rebound, score, and hit FTs. I think he's the best center in the league and would make us a contender. COuld he get injured again? Sure, but you have to take the risk when the reward is that great.

I agree. We should give him a max deal and hope for the best. What could possibly go wrong?

It is will be interesting to see what how much he is offered, how long , and by which team. He will want at least 15 mil a year. (He gets 16, 4000 now)

I would not pay him over 11 million. I really dislike the dude, so a 11 mil is a lot.

I wouldn't pay him MAX but when both McGee and DeAndre get paid over 11 MIL a year then even as an injury risk the guy is work 12 MIL. He makes those other guys look like scrubs when he is on the court.

Bynum's a goon, but if Olshey thinks he'll be a steal...

Hopefully he doesn't roller skate, though.

Unless Philly does a sign and trade, we won't be able to offer him that much.

Well i guess the question here is do you trust Olshey??? If he comes out and says we are confident that Bynum is back on track do you trust Olshey? Is his track record enough for you? I am not a Bynum fan nor am I endorsing it but I cant help but feel that for the Blazers to make that jump to contender and not just playoff team they are going to have to take some risks at this point or get verrrrrrry lucky in the draft. Who are you willing to take a risk on?

Olshey is not a doctor, so no. I trust him to pick point guards though.

The green light would come from the Blazers medical and training staff. So, no. I don't trust them either.

That's not to say I wouldn't roll the dice if independent doctors give him the green light to play.

How you figure? I thought we had 13 mil? Are you accounting for the #10 taking 3 mil off our cap?

Ahhh I see, so we just need to have the Suns staff take a look at him and let us know and then we are good to go. Got it. :)

:You just don't get this message board stuff. Here's what you do:
    1) make random threads about us getting some stupid player.
    2) Let Olshey do his thing
    3) Pontificate on what Olshey did.
    4) When we don't win a championship, blame Olshey - he should have gotten our random stupid player.:lol:

On a more serious not, I will trust the GM until he goes "against the grain" and it doesn't work out. For example, we reached to get Bassy, Webster, Nolan Smith, and others. When you reach and it doesn't work out, you should be bashed.

Signing Bynum is that level of risk. If we sign him and it doesn't work out, he will and should be bashed.

One last related thought. People think that the Wallace trade was so terrible for Brooklyn because we got Lillard who is obviously cheaper and better, but I'm not sure this is right. The trade helped them keep their PG, and they instantly became RELEVANT - something we still are not. Sure, in the long term it will be better for us, but I'm not sure you get to sacrifice short for long if you're in NY.

If it were possible to configure a deal where we paid him $15m/year for just one or two years guaranteed, where we also had his bird rights, and also didn't wipe out our roster in the process, I'd be up for it. I don't have the energy to figure out how to do that, or if it's even remotely possible.

He's worth gambling on, but not gambling long-term on.

I agree. He is worth wasting money on for two years, but you do not risk destroying the rebuilding process if he gets hurt again. His contract can't be allowed to handcuff the franchise with another injury. Especially IMO since centers are becoming less of a factor in comparison to other positions.

I hope Bynum understands that most team have to look at him this way. But on the flip side if he is healthy and productive like he was then we will get paid in the long run

So would I. I'd rather not have either though. Bynum would have to be paid the max and then all of our eggs are pretty much in that basket, if he goes down and can't contribute we are fucked and have a massive contract preventing us from having any cap flexability and we wouldn't be able to add players and we would suck again which means LA would most likely demand a trade or simply not sign an extension and walk.
