I get the idea that maybe he didn't take his health seriously and now he is more of the mindset "his body is his temple" and does everything right to be s healthy as possible. And that would suck if that was the situation and he pissed his health away while a Blazer. But just the fact he blew out his kneecap by jumping, I wonder how much of that can be attributed to freak accident or bad condition vs his body is breaking on him when competing at that high level. Also, I have been following Oden pretty closely since he was drafted and there are few times he was 100%. It was always something with Oden. Every time he goes in for a surgery, they end up doing a lot of repair work. A 25 year old with two microfracture surgeries (or is 3) with limited college and NBA playing time? My best guess: his body has been breaking down on him since 21
He has said he is rehabbing. No word if he had been cleared to play. My guess is someone would have given him a chance to play if he was.
He's been cleared to play for months now, he made a conscious decision back in November, IIRC, to take the rest of the year off and make sure he's fully healed and ready to go for next season. Or so I've heard.
Odens in an intresting situation. If he thinks he can stay healthy for an entire year then he should go to a team he feels comfortable with and will get a lot of minutes and sign a small 3-4m for two years with a player option for the second year. If he stays healthy for the majority of games and puts up decent stats he is in for a massive massive payday. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Pretty sure we've already seen that matinee. The ghost of Oden's career walks the halls of the Rose Garden at night.
That has already happened. We should have drafted Durant obviously. However, once we drafted Oden we should never have given up on him.
And the 5th was just a fluke, and the 6th was because he stepped on a crack, and the 7th was because of a voodoo witch doctor and the 8th.....
Oden would have finished that year as a UFA...waiving him did nothing except lose his bird rights...which a team won't need to sign him for peanuts.
