where did this guy come from!he was undrafted (which surprised me) and the celtics pick him up as a free agentand he plays amazing in the summer league!WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF HIM
Danny ainge is very high on him. he said that he was the best player he had seen go undrafted in a long time. to me, Ray seems like he's more built for the college game than the pro's mainly bc of his size. If he can improve his defense and actually find some PT, he could fill in nicely.
He's going to get his eye poked out again In all seriousness, I think he will become a solid player for the Celts.
It's gonna be tough for him to get minutes in Boston. I wouldn't be suprised to see him packaged at the deadline.
He's a decent player and above average shooter, but like drob said, itll be hard for him to get time in Boston because of our surplus of guards. I wont be surprised if he plays most/all of this season in the D-League.
My thoughts on Allan Ray: He's a hard worker, thats #1. He is a good shooter as you all know, but his all-around game is pretty solid. He makes good passes at the right time, he runs hard, and he knocks down those open jumpers. I really like Ray, but: Like D-Rob said, playing time is going to be.. well, how should I word this.. he won't play in Boston. Not as long as Paul Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak, Tony Allen, Delonte West, and Gerald Green are all in town. He isn't playing over any of them. Bottom line, we need to trade 1 or probably even 2 of our wings to space out the minutes properly, and if we did that then I could see Ray getting a little time. But as long as we have those 5 guys I just mentioned, Ray will have to show his stuff in the D-League (or watch from the end of the bench). EDIT: This topic got me thinking of a comparison to Allan Ray, like what type of player do I think he will turn out to be. How's this new comparison I thought of: Lucious Harris. He is a very good shooter, not quite a PG but makes smart passes, and will find his way into a rotation.
