Was going to add Basketball Diaries and Love and Basketball but was beaten to it. If we're talking documentaries, obviously Hoop Dreams is way up there but 30 for 30 has a ton of them. Unguarded is fucking mind blowing, Reggie Vs. the Knicks or whatever that one is called is great, the one about Loyola Marymount, Sam Bowie, etc.
My favorite kids movie. Im surprised no one else has mentioned 'the air up there' pretty good movie with Kevin bacon. A favorite as a kid. I feel old since I saw that movie in theatres almost twenty yrs ago
Does Airplane count? Joey: And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs. Roger Murdock: The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes! and
Can't believe I forgot about "Final Shot: The Hank Gathers Story". I guess it didn't get the greatest critical reception, but I was in high school when it came out and hadn't heard of Hank (though I had Bo Kimble cards), and that movie hit me hard.
I cannot understand how anyone can watch Blue Chips more than once. Since parts or all of it were filmed in Indiana, I was excited to see it. Lots of locals in it and still I barely was able to stomach it once. Hoops Dreams, Basketball Diaries, and Hoosiers are mine. Love just about any of the 30 for 30 films.
