The primary goal this summer should be to add enough talent to the team so that next off-season LaMarcus wants to sign a contract extension. Is adding Kaman and another MLE quality player going to accomplish that?

Answer: Yes, we have interest. He's probably plan C or D. Knows Olshey and will come pretty cheap allowing us to make a bid for T Evans as RFA.

I'd much rather sign Kaman than try to acquire Gortat.

I think this is probably right. The state of the center position in the NBA is pretty sad right now. I mean, look at the centers still playing in the post season: Bosh, Noah, Chandler, Hibbert, Splitter, Bogut, Perkins, and Gasol. A couple are PFs playing out of position. Four are decidedly "meh". Hibbert has potential and Gasol is good. Hardly the glory days of Robinson, Olajuwon, Parrish, a young Shaq, etc. I don't think that there's anyone out there that could be obtained that is going to dramatically impact the Blazers' future. A guy like Kaman is enough to solidify the C spot and wouldn't use up all of the cap space.

But it's worlds better than it was just a few seasons ago. I'd say there's certainly more C talent that SG talent, and possibly SF talent too.

We came in second to DAL last year for his services. If he doesn't resign in DAL (I don't think they want him back for whatever reason) then sure he is a possibility. Wouldn't be my first pick but far from my last pick as well.

If if we go the "patient" route and don't commit big money to a center this year, we still need someone. Preferably on a one year contract. Didn't Kaman take a one year deal with Dallas last year. Maybe he would do it again.

I think O'Neal is the other option for One year.

At least you look at it in reality and not a fantasy as many of us do.
