Have any of ya'll given any thought to trading your franchise player?

Aside from the frustration of Rose trying to fully rehabilitate, instead of returning in the series, the progress that the Bulls made this season under Thibodeau, even without Deng and Hamilton for most of the playoffs, has to be very encouraging.

I'm not saying Rose is expendable, but if floating Rose out there could get you, say... Rondo and Garnett... would you guys bite?

    No.

Rondo and Garnett would be an extremly cheap offer.

    Really? EXTREMELY cheap?!

I'd take that one in a hearbeat if I were a Bull's fan, but I guess that's why I made this thread... I'm trying to get a feeler for what Bulls fans think Rose is worth. If you absolutely had to deal him, what would you expect in return?

I think this is a horrible time to trade him, even if you were forced to.

He's coming off a year-long injury, has a game predicated on athleticism, and is now so expensive that no one will come close to paying you what he's worth.

I'm not asking whether or not they should deal him though.

I'm just trying to ascertain his current trade value, mostly in the eyes of Bulls fans, given all of mitigating circumstances surrounding his value.

Rondo's a helluva player, but he's 3 years older than Rose and not as good and Garnett's 37 for godsakes.

The media and a lot of fans are down on Rose right now, but for the present, he's still pretty much untouchable.

Rose is likely to be a 25 PPG scorer when his career resumes. I don't see why he wouldn't be near the same level he was before.

This season, only Melo, Durant, Kobe, LeBron, and Harden achieved 25 PPG. He played through a lot of nagging injuries a season ago and managed 21.8 PPG. This season, you can add Westbrook and Curry to the list of guys who scored 21.8 or more.

Rose dished 7.9 assists/game that season. This year, only Jrue Holiday, Greivis Vasquez, Chris Paul, and Rondo dished more. None of those guys matched his scoring.

Rose has been a remarkable shot maker in the clutch for us as well. Without him, we relied on one of a pair of 1-year rent-a-players (Robinson, Belinelli). Neither Rondo nor Garnett could replace that.

I have to agree with transplant. He's pretty much untouchable.

Our problem is that we're likely to be a lot like the Cavs teams with LeBron. The one superstar with management trying to keep him happy to the point of handicapping itself with salaries and players who don't mesh well enough to win it all. So we need to be diligent, IMO, about how we build around him. It looks like we're about to rebuild around him this summer.

In any case, Rose could force a trade. If that becomes the case, I bet we Bulls fans will be shocked at what we get in return. Maybe a good player, picks, and prospects. A few players for him in exchange.
