Haynes said his source is someone "close to the prospect". So he didn't hear anything from Olshey. And this could very, very well be just an agent trying to raise his client's draft stock. A lot of mocks have Oladipo going around #8. I like him, but I also like Shabazz and Zeller and a number of guys. Almost seems like, if we're keeping our pick, that we should just wait to see who falls to us at #10. Or perhaps, if our guy is around at 7, 8 or 9, to trade something small to move up a few spots during the draft.
be interesting to see how the post combine mock drafts come out over the next few days, likely some significant shifting among some prospects
Who would you take at #3? It seems that Noel and McLemore are a consensus top two. (Even though both have question marks) But who is #3? I have never seen a draft where it is so wide open. Oladipo seems like he very well could be #3. This is not to say this draft is weak, it just lacks stars in the top 3-4 that most drafts have. But after that it seems to be decent which is beneficial to those outside the top 3.
I think when it's all said and done Oladipo might end up the best player out of this class. I only watched maybe 3 or 4 Ohios State games this year, but that guy stood out head and shoulders against the competition I saw. In terms of the collegiate ranks, athletically he's about as gifted as anybody I've seen since I watched Westbrook at UCLA. He's not "perfect" but man I think he's going to be a player.
to be fair, lots of guys just trusted "sources" instead of doing some journalistic work (and not paying attention to "only fans" who tried to help them out)--Haynes, Quick, DJ, Jerry Zgoda from MIN. But all of them ended up coming around and being cool about it after--especially DJ and Zgoda. In fact, here's a quick twitter-ism: Next day: Even Dwight came around. Gotta have a little respect for that.
Man, I really don't know enough about this shit.... Oladipo pre-draft measurements - 6' 3.25" without shoes, 6' 4.25" with shoes, 6' 9.25" wingspan, 8' 4.5" standing reach Paul George pre-draft - 6' 7.75" without shoes, 6' 8.75" with shoes, 6' 11.25" wingspan, 8' 11" standing reach
Reach and wingspan Oladipo is nearly identical with Brandon Roy. Shabazz is huge for a SG: 6'11" wingspan with a 8'9" reach.
How is Oladipo's handle? I wouldn't mind him after watching some of his video, but if Muhammad is available at 10, I'd like him too, and there would be no need to use assets in a trade.
Save the effort, the bottom line is that "trading up" for VO is classic smokescreen BS that we'll only see more of as we get closer to draft time. it ain't happenin IMO unless it's dirt cheap which is very unlikely
It's a smoke screen for those who believe the Blazer should trade the pick for a veteran, and that is a smoke screen for those who think the team should trade the pick for a higher pick.
