Mags has a lot to learn about basketball, Clutch is imaginary nonsense for the most part.

Tangible is what matters. Defense, plus-minus, nuances of basketball can be measured now.

Jordan in his prime would have eaten Kobe alive.

The 80's were still softer defensively, despite what all the pundits say on tv. Fast-paced up-and-down scorefests.

Sorry but there isn't a team today that would rival the physical play of Detroit, New York, or even the Pacers. You can't even touch the chosen ones in the NBA today.

The Pacers were good in the 80s?

Bullshit, today's NBA is softer than ever and in my opinion that's not really a good thing. Specially in the playoffs.

The most talented team in history could easily miss the playoffs every year if their coach sucked.

And we all know Jackson never won squat without 2-3 super-elite players.

We're getting decades confused. It was the 90s when defense was great. Not the 80s.

That's ridiculous, and since you weren't even born yet I'm amused that you would make such a silly claim.

Frankly, it's been over a decade since I actually saw someone set a bone-grinding pick or came up bleeding after diving for a loose ball. Stern turned the NBA into a game where nobody gets hurt and we all get certificates of participation.

What I found interesting about the comparison was there personalities. Jordan had the benefit of playing college and being more mature coming into the NBA. Kobe came in a a high schooler (which was rare back then) and had trouble fitting in. He kept to himself for the most part while Jordan fit in with everyone from players to security guards.

They both are fierce competitors with an incredible drive to win. But Kobe tried to do it on his own while Jordan did it with his team. I think things would have been different if Kobe went to college for at least one year.

    Those were all non-contact injuries.

Agreed. He came to the NBA too early. Half of his life has been working for the Lakers. There is his 17 years of childhood and his 17 years of working for the Lakers. He needed a middle part.

I don't think there's any doubt. James is physically superior to Jordan. In Jordan's era, James is a PF. Seriously, physically the dude is a more athletic Karl Malone. However, I think MJ would get so deep into his head, James would lose his composure.
