Re: I don't get it Instead of calling Team Usa's failure as an actual failure, espn and others are making excuses. I don't know if it's a marketing ploy or something but the critcism has been almost mute. A team with the 3 greatest young players in the world, one of the greatest coaches in the world and some of the world's best big men deserve some criticism when they don't bring home the gold.I mean the 04 team who's players were horrible fits for the team and were less talented got all the criticism in the world.Maybe it's because they don't want to harm the big 3 but i still find it strange.
Re: I don't get it The U.S has been the power in basketball since the original dream team. That means EVERY team has been out gunning for them, trying to find out ways to beat them!! The US cant possibly have the same sort of preparation to play against these teams. A few months isn't long enough to prepare for teams that have been studying the US's game for years!!!!Having said that it WAS a huge failure!!! People can complain about chemistry and all that but simply put it was disgraceful. Letting a team shoot 60+ % from the feild??? No good!!
Re: I don't get it No, they should be able to rock up there and win the whole thing. They didnt have as much preparation as others but it's not like they didn't prepare. They had numerous practice games. With that talent, they shoud be playing in the gold medal game, not getting bronze.Their trying to cover up the failure of the team usa. I was reading espn's story on the greece game and in it was a quote by lebron who said "they don't know what to do" when they up by 10+ poiints. It was removed for some strange reason.Something is fishy, i really believe the criticism has been mute because of marketing.
Re: I don't get it You guys are overreacting. USA never gave a sh*t about the World Championships, only the Olympics. Besides, this is a three year commitment so team USA isn't at the level we all expect them to be in 2008, if they lose a game in 2008, then we should get pissed.

How about the system that was inforced so america would reclaim their number 1 spot? Did you not see the players comments before the world champs? They cared, they wanted to reclaim their number one spot. This is a big deal when a team with so much talent, 50 times as much talent as the greeks let the greeks shot 60%. The world champs are actually bigger then the olympics in the eyes of everyone and america failed. Is that how apathetic you guys are? The loss was an absolute embarassement and is a trend.
Re: I don't get it I don't get why losing is so horrible. I mean sure we had the best talent out there but we've been together for only a couple of months while most of these teams have been playing together for years. We had new players and management. Also this team wasn't made to win the '06 FIBA Championships. It was made for the '08 olympics. Why do you think the average age of the team is like 24? Because were preparing a team that will be unstoppable and fully developed in two years.

That team should go out there and beat every team by 20+ points. The talent on that team is mindblowing, sometimes talent is too much for chemistry. In this case, america just failed. They didn't have the right players, they had too much gamblers on defense, no shooters. This team has alot of talent, just not the right talent. But even that shouldn't stop them winning by 20+. That just shows you how dominant this team should be when every player on the team but a couple are horrible fits and their expected to win.It just points to one thing, even americans know that their not the best team in the world and probably won't be for the next 5 years. After the 2004 olympics, america was pissed and wanted to redeem themselves at the world champs. Everyone said they'd win. They lose and it's "in 08, we'll win".The excuses are getting old.

The Greeks highlighted a problem with USA, the Americans should take care of that now. But, my point is that this team is being built for the 2008 Olympics. People keep overreacting because USA isn't winning by 70 points anymore, the Greek team was tough, not a lot of people knew that because of all the Argentina/Spain hype. Also, the latest reports have USA still at #1.Iversonfan268 is absolutely right. This team still needs to gel, give them time. They should be awsome come 2008.
Re: I don't get it No offense melo but unlike you, the media is not going harp on this loss and continually bash them. I mean what for, so you can get off seeing USA losing and hearing about it on national tv. Because that's the only reason you can be complaining about it. I saw some comments on their loss on tv and none of it was very positive but seeing as it's widely broadcasted and based in the US, it makes perfect sense why it's pro USA in terms of broadcast.
Re: I don't get it We lost a worthless game to Greece, why and the hell do people care so much or get mad about it? The Olympics are 2 years away, i'm sick of it. God.
Re: I don't get it this might sound stupid but maybe putting bruce bowen on the team woulden't of been a bad idea. I also think they should of put brad miller in the game more because he's a great passer. The US did care about this though but they just fell short.

Not continously but they need to be bashed, not the players but the coaching staff. It's their fault the players ran no plays. It was their instructions for players to gamble. It was their fault that they didn't pick enough 2 ways players who could fit in. It's their fault Miller didn't play more even though he's a perfect fit for international ball. It's their fault Howard was on the bench.I blame the coaching staff more then the players. edit: You guys are pretty calm, if Australia had that much talent, had 3 of the best players in the world and we lost to some greece team i'd be calling for heads.Btw, the name LeBronze sounds cool.edit: Why does everyone talk about the olympics? Not giving a sh*t about the FIBA World Championships is the American way. All our fans and players care about is winning the NBA title. The Olympics are second. Only die-hard basketball fans in the US know much outside the NBA. USA isn't Europe where there are a zillion countries within 20 miles of each other, we in the US are isolated and we play that way. Other countries are more involved with each other in sports that it's a big deal for them to win the FIBA tournaments, USA on the other hand doesn't feel that way. We have our on sports and leagues. Were happy with winning our own championships.
Re: I don't get it I really wanted USA to win this FIBA Championship but after reading comments from Anthony saying they didn't expect Greece to try so hard I have lost a lot of respect for that team and appreciate what other teams bring to the game.
