The NBA on Monday awarded the Portland Trail Blazers the league's 2013 Team Sponsorship Activation Award.

The Blazers got the award for work done to promote the "Blazers Burger," offered for five weeks during the 2012-13 season by Burgerville, the privately held 39-restaurant chain based in Vancouver.

The partnership beat more than 30 submissions and five finalists, including the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers.

Planning between the team and Burgerville and use of several advertising platforms distinguished the Blazers Burger campaign, Blazers sponsorship executive Steve Scott said Monday morning.

"We did that through all our assets" in advertising, including placement on digital platforms, mentions during television broadcasts and in-arena placement in the Rose Garden, said Scott, vice president of corporate partnerships, sales and service.

"This was something where I would hold it up as a collaborative effort," Scott said. "Everyone got in the room together to walk through what this would look like."

The Blazers Burger -- featuring spicy cheese and locally sourced peppers -- was the second most successful launch of a limited time offer in the restaurant's 52-year history. A burger with Walla Walla Sweet onion rings holds the crown, Scott said.

2 brothers just claimed they were beaten up by a hamburger at Burgerville's drive thru.

I wonder how it is that I completely missed this. Maybe cause I don't read the news paper or anything. I pretty much just watch TV and mostly I DVR stuff and then fast forward through the commercials

If they're not going to burn a "B" onto the bun with a branding iron, at least they could paint it red and black.

None of that is necessary. You know it's a Blazer Burger because when you try to go around it dribbling a basketball, it just sits there.

I was going to say you know it is because it falls apart when you go to eat it.
