Stupid. Anyone should feel lucky to be drafted by such a great organization.

+1. What he said. Having said that, Pop is out when Duncan retires. At that point the Spurs will be a different team.

That's going to be a sad day - the end of great coaching in the NBA. Hopefully a few guys step up to the table - Hollins, Thibideau...anybody else that might move into the upper echelon of coaching?

Why would Thibideau ever move away from the situation he's in now? The weather?

I think he means more move into the discussion of top coach in the league, not move cities.

Appears most people think we are drafting Dario Saric or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope...

I have watched oladipo enough now that I would try to move up to get him. He is a keeper.

I really don't want to draft any international players. Out of the many we have drafted in the past, only Batum has proven to be decent and Claver may be decent as well, but he has a ways to go. I'm not on board for drafting an international dude.

With our draft history, you can say something similar to avoid just about anything.
Last season: After spending picks on Telfair, Jack, Bayless, Green, Sergio, Kopponen, Johnson, and Nolan, I don't want to draft another PG. Have to trust your scouting, can't just worry that oh, in the past we drafted Bowie and Oden, so of course we can't pick Noel. That we drafted bad guys from...wherever, so it's right to avoid that all together.

Any way we could get Phoenix's pick? Something like Gortat + [Frye or Beasley] + 3 for Batum + 10? I'd have to think about that one, but it would give you a C and if you really liked Olapido . . .

Another reason Im not for them is because I hate the idea of them staying with there respective country and don't come over until a couple years later. I don't know if that is the case with any of the players in this years draft, but Im not for it. If it is the case, we are a team in need of talent now, not a few years down the line.

Mike Rice became visibly ill at the thought of adding Drummond last summer. He's dead to me.

So if Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Pau or Marc Gasol or Dirk Nowitzki was there you'd be "I'll pass"?

It's a positive strategy for teams to encourage some players to stay over there and develop. That way teams can keep evaluating them and NOT PAYING THEIR SALARIES. Teams don't actually like drafting outside of maybe the top ten because you could be saddled with a bum player on a long contract. This way you might not EVER have to pay him. Remember, the majority of first rounders are going to be duds.

That said, plenty of international players come over IMMEDIATELY. Batum did, even though we didn't want him to (after his very underwhelming summer league)! It depends on their local team's contract.

This year it seems like there's an abundance of interesting foreign players.
Dennis Schroeder, Dario Saric, Rudy Gobert (not interested, myself), Nogueira (ditto), Sergey Karasev, Livio Jean-Charles

(And that's not counting the international players who played at US colleges, like Bennett, Olynyk (both Canadian), Dieng and Adams.)
