I don't get the hate at all.. It looks pretty cool. Oh my it looks kinda like a VCR, do you really care?
In comparison to the PS4? I think Microsoft had a let down. Where were the games? Nothing really popped out to me with this "unveiling"
Only interested in games. Console hardware is boring. Show me cool exclusives and you'll get my attention. Bizarre that GTA V is coming out for current gen consoles.
I stole this off of youtube, but it pretty much lines up with what i think: I don't want to always be online, I don't want to pay a premium for used games, I don't want to be constantly watched by the mandatory kinect, and I don't care about watching TV on my GAMING console.
I think that's fine with Microsoft. They don't seem to be trying to cater to the "gamer" demographic too intensely.. Which is why you can do so many things on it, gaming being one of them. But they don't seem to be focusing on it.
That's good for them then, they'll lose a crapload of gamer money, and will have to hope the casual market props them up. Look how that worked out with Nintendo when the gimmick wore off.
Technology is definitely moving in the same direction Microsoft is with this. Being able to do everything associated with a television on one device is hugely attractive to people right now, especially with Netflix and live TV on it.
Completely agree. I don't care about watching tv on my xbox when I'm playing my xbox on a tv I can watch tv just fine on. It's stupid. I buy gaming consoles for gaming. I buy used games so I dont have to pay full price. I will be buying the gaming system that wants to cater to gamers, not some bullshit media center that serves no purpose because other things offer these items already.
I can see what you're saying, but controlling cable? That seems outdated these days when you have so many streaming options with the Apple TV and Roku. I guess i'm just pissed that this thing is going to cost $500 when you can get those things that does all of the tv/streaming stuff for the most part for a fraction of the cost, without a bs yearly subscription fee to boot.
And VG, if i remember right, you aren't a gamer anyway, so you're exactly who they're trying to go after anyway, not us.
Well I like it, so they're doing something right! But yeah, I'm not much of a gamer. (Besides FIFA!) I most likely will get the PS4 anyways, cause I rarely watch cable TV and don't like dealing with the Xbox Live crap.
What I've been seeing said a lot is that this Press Conference simply wasn't about games. It was about the hardware. E3 is where the games are (I have no idea what E3 is)
I know how you feel gorilla. Ton of pissed off so called "gamers", but we all know once this system arrives it'll fly off shelves. The only aspect I hate of the new system is the whole "always kinected" deal. Sounds annoying, I hope they tweak that before launch.
I want a single device that I can tell, "Show me Breaking Bad," and if it's available for free on Netflix it'll fire up Netflix. If it's on next Thursday on AMC, it'll record that. If I gotta pay HBO for it, it'll give me the option. If it's only available via illegal torrent, it'll give me that option. If it's a basketball game streaming live on some illegal Euro site, it'll show me that (in the best definition possible). I'd prefer to pay the NBA though for good regular season and PLAYOFF coverage. Because of the shady options I'm also interested in, I doubt what I want is ever going to be available by a console. But that's why I'm going the home theater PC route. That gives me the closest thing possible right now until somebody is smart enough to build the application that does what I describe. I like the direction the Xbox is going, but frankly I think I'm already closer to what I want with a Windows XP home theater pc.
