jlprk is making a good point, though. It's not fair, even if they let everyone who applied have 501(c)4 status. For the reason he stated. I don't hate the Tea Party. I see it as the potential savior of the republican party. IF they stick to the principles that you say are the primary 3, and don't stray into war on women, war on hispanics, war on foreign countries, etc.
If only the Tea Party were treated like its Muslim equivalent. Hopefully Obama will take off the gloves and hand out 50-year prison sentences for donating to Tea Party charities. Then it will be fair and consistent.

I'm jaded too. I don't think he gives a whit about doing the people's business and is wasting our time and money with yet another fucking charade trying to fish for something they can smear their political opponents with. Remind me of how many of these poor poor Tea Party groups were denied tax free status? This IRS "scandal" is absolutely ridiculous. Political groups lied to the IRS in applying for tax free status saying that they wouldn't be participating in politics and then did nothing but. And now Republicans in Congress are screaming about how the understaffed IRS sorted through an avalanche of mostly Right Wing groups who lied/applied for this tax free status that they clearly didn't deserve. It's ass backwards STOMP
the status that they were applying for (501c) specifically states "civic leagues or organizations not organized for profit but operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare". So these political groups that wrongly applied for this tax free status were cheating the rest of us taxpayers/Americans to promote their personal politics. Good thing Congress called in the FBI...
