<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (Ticker) - Mike Shanahan moved rookie free agent running back Mike Bell to the top of the depth chart at the start of training camp. He ended the preseason by cutting former Heisman Trophy-winning running back Ron Dayne. The Denver Broncos released Dayne on Saturday, meaning that Tatum Bell and Mike Bell will share the load in the backfield for the Broncos this season. Dayne, 28, signed with the Broncos last season but was third on the depth chart behind Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell. With just 53 carries, Dayne produced 270 yards. His highlight came on Thanksgiving Day when he busted loose for a 53-yard run to set up an overtime field goal by Jason Elam in a 24-21 win at Dallas. After Anderson signed with Baltimore in March, it was believed that Dayne would get more carries in 2006. Instead, he didn't even make the team as Shanahan decided to go with the two Bells in his backfield. The Heisman Trophy winner in 1999, Dayne spent his first five seasons with the New York Giants. He rushed for 1,888 yards from 2000-02 for the Giants, but was inactive for all 16 games in 2003 and rushed for only 179 yards on 52 carries in 2004.</div><div align="center">Source</div>Wow, and to think he was the starter just a couple of weeks ago.
He will be picked up by someone. He was the Heisman winner for a reason. He showed great stuff at the Thanksgiving game, and he will be a great backup option for another team.
Of course they would get a RB. D.Davis has a injury, can't really count on Vernard Morency. They should have drafted Reggie Bush..

Nice D-Rob you called it on the money. Ron Dayne is a great running back and very underrated, I definetley think that he will challenege Dominack Davis for the starting position and he was a great signing by the Texans. However, I still think that Reggie Bush was the player they missed out on and are really going to suffer in the future when Reggie is scoring 20 touchdowns a season for the New Orleans Saints. Mario Williams is a good and solid player but the running back position is more valued and more important to a team's success than a defensive end.

I'm talking about for the future, like once Davis comes back healthy then he'll challenge Davis for the starting job because Dominack Davis is a solid running back and can be a pro bowler with the right coaching system and a solid offensive line.
