While I have my not-so-hot opinions of Mel Gibson's personal life, I believe this was a dutiful and pretty accurate depiction of the passion week.

Much of the movie was very difficult to watch.

The actual crucifixion event was much, much worse historically, though Gibson did a decent job in reenacting it. They didn't drive the nails through your hands, they drove them through your upper wrists to completely destroy the nerves in your hands and arms. Think about getting hit in the funny bone, now think about someone driving a nine inch nail through it and leaving you to hang by that weight. Also with all the weight being lifted up at the arms, the only way a crucifixion victim could breathe is by pushing up on their nail driven feet in order to inhale their next breath, while their lashed back is being rubbed against splintered wood. You would know if someone had died already because they would stop lifting themselves up to get a breath. The Roman soldiers often used a death blow by breaking the legs of the victims on the cross to essentially suffocate them. Again, not a pretty picture. In fact the word "excruciating" means "from the cross", and people of that time did not speak of it. It was only for the most vile of criminals.

    I didn't know that.

Simply an amazing/excruciating act of obedience to fulfill his Father's will. As horrific as it was, it was still good for me to be painfully reminded of what He went through for me......and all of humanity.

In the Spartacus: War of the Damned TV show they showed Crucifixion more accurately than this movie, the nails were in the wrists.

And also it was ~6,000 of the rebel slaves that were all crucified.

As it should be considering Spartacus: War of the Damned is based on actual events.

There's a Spartacus thread in the forum and I posted a link in it that has the episodes online.

I think you're getting Alzheimers. We've had this discussion about you "firing cable" and I was the one who told you that you could watch Comcast via the internet by logging into your parent's account.
