That's a good point. To the average fan, being a "GM," apparently means total control. Well, since the Grizzlies have been in Memphis, I really can't recall one GM we had that was really in total control of the team. There are a lot of guys whose decision might supersede the "General Manager," such as the "President/VP of Basketball Operations," the "CEO," the "Managing Partner," and well, of course the owner (thank you Michael Heisley for Hasheem Thabeet at #2). The power structure is really different in every NBA franchise.
