Multiple sources reporting that Executive of the Year Masai Ujiri has accepted the position of General Manager of the Toronto Raptors. Ujiri replaces Bryan Colangelo who will remain with the franchise as President of the team but will not have a voice when it comes to basketball related decisions--instead, Colangelo is expected to take a prominent role in helping to expand the Raptors business and marketing interests. Ujiri won the 2012-13 EotY award for his 57-win season with the Nuggets and especially for arranging the Carmelo Anthony trade. Ujiri is the first African-born GM in the American major pro leagues.
Re: Executive of the Year Masai Ujiri new GM of the Raps The Raptors had hoped to land Phil Jackson but the guru has only dipped his toe into the waters of managing a franchise by helping out the Detroit Pistons as an adviser.
Re: Executive of the Year Masai Ujiri new GM of the Raps First day on the job and he's already firing people. That's awesome. Stefanski was BC's right hand so it made no sense to keep him around, good move
Re: Executive of the Year Masai Ujiri new GM of the Raps Stefanski might be getting pushed out to make room for Pete D'Alessandro.
