Indeed a stroke of genius hiring Dr. Stackpole. He likely had to give the shaft to his former employer, but I bet he will be here for a long time, even when things get hard. Boners.

I say we really test this kids futuristic, holistic approach. Lets bring back Oden.

I don't know whether he's good or bad, but I do know that if he wants to not be laughed at, he needs to drop the gimmick title.

For years, radio rightist Dr. Laura Schlesinger has had to constantly say, "I'm not a medical doctor."

He can either say that 10 times a day for years, or simply drop the B.S. The gimmick got him a job, now drop it.

The Blazers hired him on the work he did, not because he can call himself a doctor.

Hey, if it doesn't work out, at least he's already got a good porn name.

When you were there in the room, did you notice that Olshey and the new President, good old What's His Name, were completely ignorant of the kid naming himself Dr.?

I figured out the solution to all his problems. His problems are 1) He has to repeat his mantra 10 times daily and 2) he looks too young.

Get a rough-looking tattoo on his neck that says, "I'm not a medical doctor, motherfucker."

    Yup!

As a recent grad in the professional world now, I totally agree with hiring younger people. We're definitely more inclined to learn new ways to do things, and are amenable to considering alternative perspectives.

I LOVE the fact that they got someone in there that is forward thinking and not stuck in his ways.

Great hire according to my 1000 doctors

It's sad how this makes news for us. Any other market, and this would just be an afterthought.

Would this indicate in any way the brass balls the front office might have in trying to sign Oden or Bynum?

I would suggest that 12-15 minutes of either one of them would be better than anything else we could realistically expect to get playing 35 minutes

I would tend to agree with your assessment of their potential contributions, but I also highly doubt that either (especially Oden) would be interested in signing here.

Well, here is a guy who can probably look at videos and tell Neil whether or not Oden is just a lost cause with his obvious mechanical flaws. And yes, I think young Mr. Stackpole could be just what the doctor ordered to rehabilitate Bynum physically. Mentally, I don't know. ;)

Whether he ends up working well is unknowable at this point. But I think it's safe to say it's a good HIRE - Olshey is clearly looking to make major changes to how the team operates. Replacing a dinosaur who used ancient practices with a young guy who knows all those ancient practices along with a whole mess of new practices can only be good.
For a long time I've felt that the training should utilize swimming and tai chi. Swimming to reduce the amount of impact these guys bodies are taking. And tai chi to increase stability and learn how to leverage your opponent's body to get them off balance and out of position. Seriously, if there was a PF/C with advanced tai chi skills they would absolutely own the league.

Definitely news worthy when the Blazers pull their heads out of their collective ass. Even moreso whent it's five years late. That's the sad part.
