It's okay now that most people have forgotten how cheesy it was, right on the heels of Jurassic Park. Maybe they could be the Toronto Expendables now.

Maybe the Toronto Fast & Furiousses?

The naming contest was crooked IIRC, they wanted Raps from the jump.

Hogs would've been a great name (if a bit easy to pun). I like Huskies but it is too synonymous with UConn.

Remember when Tim's brother Tod was the CEO of Vulcan? He resigned only a month after Paul Allen decided to fire Pritchard.

I always thought Raptors was kinda goofy. What else is Toronto known for? The Toronto Turks?

Huskies was a Toronto team name for one season in the BAA or whatever, so there is history.

Raptors has become better, but so bad for when they chose it.

Toronto's already the most hated city in Canada so that's just being extra mean...

Raptors fits Toronto the same as the Jazz fit Utah and Lakers fit LA.

Come to think of it, they could be the pioneers in corporate naming. Forget arena naming rights. Toronto Cheerios, Toronto Oreos, Toronto Doritos, Toronto Cheetos... It's a match made in processed food heaven.

When I was a kid, I was randomly a Raptors fan for a while just because I thought their name and logo were badass... that's the best thing the franchise has going for it IMO.

In fact, fuck it, keep the name and bring back the old-school logo and jerseys -

    Best jersey in league history...

I like team names that identify them with their geographical region, but names like, "Raptors," "Warriors," "Wizards," and "Thunder" are pretty neutral (although years later, "Thunder" still sounds more like a WNBA franchise), and there's nothing really glaringly wrong with them.

The team names that bug me are the "Utah Jazz," "Los Angeles Lakers," and "Memphis Grizzlies." None of those make any sense...

Out of all of those, Utah and LAL have way too much history to change their name at this point. I would not be opposed to seeing the Grizz change their name though, like the Pelicans just did. I don't even think there are Grizzly bears living in any current NBA cities (...are there even any in the Portland area, aside from rogue Grizz that have just lost their way or something?).
