If BJ Penn comes out of retirement and if returns to the UFC as a lightweight--lots of if's in there--two fighters have already jumped up to say they'd like to face him: Dagestan's undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov (20-0) and Xtreme Couture's Evan Dunham (14-4). The Eagle would present Penn with a difficult grappling challenge; Numagomedov is a combat sambo champion who has ragdolled his first four opponents in the UFC. He's thought to be one or two fights away from a title shot and beating a marquee opponent in Penn would likely get him that shot. Dunham, an 11-fight UFC veteran, is coming off a loss to Rafael dos Anjos, so the stakes are lower for that potential fight. Dunham's often reckless style would mesh well with the mythical "motivated, in-shape, lightweight" BJ Penn, who is 1-4-1 in his last six fights.
