This. It really would have helped him to keep Joel around. Someone nice and Midwestern to show him how to play dirty.
Meyers likes to work out a lot, but he wants the guns, he doesn't have the strong legs. I think he likes to look cut.
I remember how much discussion Oden always got on how his frame just seemed built to pile on muscle mass. Leonard struck me the same way when I saw him in Summer League. Dude has huge shoulders for a guy that tall. Seems a little funny to me how little discussion this ever gets. I guess it gets overlooked because he just doesn't have Oden's instincts or talent. And his legs were kind of twiggy. Hope he's spending more time on squats than his biceps this summer.
hopefully that image shows up. I think it shows that Meyers has a really strong upper body, but his legs look fairly normal to me. his waist is pretty narrow as well. He needs to work on his lower frame.
I thought he did a fairly good job of holding his ground against some real centers this year, he didn't show an ounce of fear and seemed to command some respect (physically). Usually when a rook comes into the league, veterans will really abuse them. The only abuse Meyers really took came from being out of position and not knowing where to be. Here's to Leonard becoming a force to reckon with!
I know, but it seems like building up the the lower body is tougher than the upper body. Easy to put undo stress on the knees. Either you have a big trunk or you don't.
Leonard has less basketball instincts than a freshman in high school. He also can't move his feet. So, I'm pessimistic. OTOH, he's a hard worker, extremely athletic, and is very coachable. I'm hoping for some Major improvement this offseason (between his own workouts, big man camp and summer league). We'll see. edit: By the way, what did he say on the radio?
Yeah, seriously. Did he get interviewed? Did he say anything? "I'm working out." "Trying to get better." "Listening to my coaches." "Looking forward to big man camp." "Need to improve my defense." "Both teams played hard." Stuff like that?
Said he didn't care if he was starting, on the bench, in the D-League, as long as somebody CTC, at the end of the day he's with us. Then he compared himself to a slave and hung up.
for those wanting a legitimate answer to this question: The first thing Wheels asked was about how his adjustment to the NBA was? Leonard started talking about how the speed of the game was one of the most difficult and important things to get used to, and then his cell phone cut out, and the interview ended.
He sucks so bad he even drains phone batteries? (sorry, but some jokes are just too obvious to pass up)
