Chaos erupted near the campus of Santa Monica College Friday afternoon as a gunman opened fire in what police are calling a series of shootings in the city. Authorities say five are dead including the gunman and several others are injured. Police are investigating at least nine separate crime scenes. Officials say the series of shootings began at a home that was engulfed in flames. "I heard more shots, I saw smoke, I came out, realized someone had been shot," said witness Reid Rosen. Witnesses said an armed man ran from the home and flagged down passing cars. "The second car he waved through with a gun, and she slowed down right beside him, and when she did, he just fired, and it was at least three shots into her car," said witness Jerry Cinningham-Ratner.
