Yeah, that definitely sucks. At least it sounds like you can still get free games with the service. I think they said that Driveclub game would be free right off the bat with it.

Re: $500 for the Xbox One

Basically its gonna be the same as Xbox Live will be, as Miscrosoft is going the route of 2 free games per month with Gold. So the only difference might be the price, and Sony's willingness to work with Indie Games.

Paying for online gaming wasnt a sticking point with me for current Gen, so shouldnt bother me too much. Hopefully it will be reinvested into making the online experience a little easier to use (i.e. party chat)

Either way though I'm sold on PS4. I wont be buying an Xbox

I think it said psn would have cross game chat, so i think that's the same thing.

I'll be getting a PS4 it does not require internet like the XBox720. Microsoft are the ones that made mistakes this time. I wonder who Bill Gates will come after?

I still love PC gaming. No online passes, plenty of DRM free options out there, Steam sales every week, kickstarter games starting to make their way to market. That said, if I was going to get a console, Sony's PS4 seems like the least intrusive and most flexible option, while Microsoft seems hellbent on pissing off their core audience.

This is Ballmer's show now. BG seems content to busy himself teaching poor African kids how to read and shit.

yep I heard that too. I also heard that PS4 will ship with a basic headset, and Xbox wont because the forced Kinect is where you can do the chat. Kinda backwards from last systems lol

PS4 is the clear winner and if I am going to buy a new console then that is one. However, why not just stick with the PS3 for a while or pick up a used PS3 (they will go way down in price) if you don't already have one?

I will for sure buy a PS4, but I am always leery of buying the first generation of a console, especially after my first PS3 lasted on 8 months. So, I probably won't be preordering a PS4.

The good thing about having a gaming pc is, the most interesting looking "exclusive" Microsoft showed off, Titanfall, will be on the pc as well. As for the ps4, you will be getting most console only games, Sony games, and Japanese games that don't make it to the pc. Best of both worlds for me.

I think Sony should hire me with all of the schilling i've been doing for them.

Gotta have the best and newest thing, lol. $400 is in my price range too, it it was any higher, i wouldn't have pre-ordered until a price drop.

It looks like Battlefield 4 will be 1080p @ 60 fps with 64 players, just like 3 was on the pc. You console only guys are going to jizz your pants.

Re: $500 for the Xbox One

I'll be getting a XBOX One, but they are very similar.

I don't mind allowing the publishers to not allow used games (it is up to the publisher, not Microsoft) because 1) I don't but used games and 2) More money to the publishers from less used games and piracy means more and better games released.

I also really like not having to worry about moving disks around. We have two xbox 360s and it is pain to move the disks around. Being able to log in at a friends house and play your games there even if you don't have the disk there (and he/she hasn't bought the game) has to be a little appealing don't you think? (Unlike what the video linked here says that you can ONLY play the game on the system where it was installed... which is NOT correct... in fact there are lot of things incorrect in the video) Also... I don't know how many disks my kids have scratched and they stopped working. Won't be a worry soon (unless you have PS4). You can also transfer rights to someone else to give them the game, and I think there is a loaning feature also.

Internet connection doesn't bother me... seriously... who doesn't have an internet connection? It isn't like if your internet stops for an hour all your games do... and almost all the games I play multi player anyway... lol. Again, it is done to cut down piracy which I think is a great thing.

Privacy doesn't bother me either. Well, it does, but I don't expect privacy when I am talking in an *online* game. It is like talking in public. Microsoft has spent a lot of time putting effort into safe guarding privacy, and compare that to Sony which basically left the entire playstation network unsecured because they didn't think anyone would bother to hack it (if you call it a hack when you access unsecured info that oh... happens to contain credit cards).

I like the fact you don't even have to sign in (face recognition) and you can swap positions on the couch or change controllers and it knows where you are (because the control itself knows where it is, and the Kinect know where you are.)

The TV integration could be interesting too... I hate navigating set top box menus. Wished they allowed DVR capability though... but maybe they will add that later)

I think it is a good thing that Sony is going to charge for playstation network because it will cut down on the riff raff, which was part of their problem I think. For one paying for it cuts a certain element out of the picture, and the service can also be cut off if you violate policies.

I don't but that gamers are getting screwed by use game markets. Honestly I am not entirely sure it was legal to begin with... though obviously no one wanted to fight that fight. You don't own software like a car or something like that. I am all for more money going to the people who make the games and less to people who don't (sorry gamestop). If a publisher makes the same game on the XBOX One and PS4, and they start seeing they make a lot more money on the XBOX One system because people are not buying used games for 5 or 10 dollars less from gamestop, where do you think they are going to focus their development efforts? It won't be on the one that makes them less money.

Both the systems look very very similar, and I don't think anyone is wrong with going with either. The hardware being similar to PC's is going to be positive for everyone.

Re: $500 for the Xbox One

Currently I dont in my living situation. Havent had any at home (other than phone internet) for 2 1/2 months. Would suck to not be able to play single player games because of that.

I could agree with that.. but this part still remains to be seen. If games are on equal sales on both consoles then yeah that would make sense.. but if there is less of an install base on one consol (More people buying PS4's for example) then they could be making more money up front with a game, than with what they would lose(?) by going more towards DRM

Re: $500 for the Xbox One

I think it said something like 20% of the 360 owners has never taken their console online, not a large number but you shouldn't be forced to log online everyday, especially to play single player games. I also don't like how you can't rent games for the most part anymore on the Xbox. I don't want to pay $60 for a game like NBA Live only to find out it sucks, and then not be able to recoup some of my money. The Kinect always watching you creeps me out as well.

I've read that a lot of soldiers are angry about this thing too, they can't get a stable connection when they are stationed in some places, and they won't even be able to play lan games with each other if they can't get the things online in a day.

I think it was in a comments section of IGN so take it fwiw.. but I thought I saw a discussion on deployed soldiers can get some code to keep that online thing from happening. Not sure if true or not though. Still... annoying to even have to be discussing it lol
