Finally getting into riding season. Got my first bike last summer, a Honda CBR250r, and I recently picked up a 2003 Honda CBR600rr. Just curious if anyone else around here likes to ride.
I wish I had the balls to ride a bike. I always get scared about crashing and permanently injuring myself (paralyzed). I envy those that aren't afraid of skydiving, bungee jumping and riding bikes.
It's not that bad Mags. Obviously there's risk, but if you're smart and you wear the gear, it reduces the risk significantly. Or you could be the one of the guys who ride around in shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops
Yes the vast majority of motorcycle accidents are new riders or people being reckless. Yes there is inherant risk in riding a motorcycle but often its less than riding a pedal bike. I have a cousin who got hit by a trimet bus on a pedal bike screwed up his leg bad. Dont know anyone hurt from a motorcycle. Wear protective gear, get lots of training and instruction, get comfortable with your bike on safer roads first. Never ride if youve had even 1 drink.
I was looking at something like a Yamaha FZ6 or now FZ8 bike. Im 6'4" so want something I fit on comfy for long rides but corners good. My Suzuki Boulevard M50 cornered worse than my dinky subaru.
both my cousin and good friend from high school were killed on motorcycles, both got cut off by large trucks, game over used to ride though, just not that important to me anymore to spend money on a bike
I expected a thread about bus riding. In my day, when only children rode bicycles, it was cool to call motorcycling "biking." Just like skateboarding was "skating." That was me in Los Angeles. I didn't stray far from campus, except to bike home to visit my parents. Long trip. In Bermuda in the 40s, only bigshots had cars on the little island, so my mother drove a motorscooter. Just like those pioneer women in stagecoaches.
