Looks like a good movie. I have never been a superman fan, too many powers, but this looks like a good job at humanizing him.

Anyone see this movie yet? I saw it last night and it's hard for me to say that it was a disappointment. The movie did not live up to the hype though and for around for first half hour I felt as if I was watching a Star Trak film same goes for some of the time when they went between Earth and Krypton. Now that they got Superman's story told about how he came to earth and how he got brought up they can really move along with this story though and make it great.

    It was fucking amazing.

It seemed like Star Trek because Superman is an alien, and they actually showed that. They did it so they won't have to do it again. I'm so anxious to hear who the next villain will be. I could not keep from smiling the entire movie.

This is Superman done right, and I can't wait til the next movie.

Would anyone recommend this movie over Iron Man 3, Star Trek or This is the End? Im going to see one or two of these this weekend and haven't made up my mind yet. I never go to the movies either so Ill probably wait for the others to hit video.

I would, but I've been looking forward to this movie for 7 years.. It was definitely better than Iron Man 3 and Star Trek, but I haven't seen This is the End.

If you end up seeing two movies it should be This is the End and Man of Steel. If only one, it's just whether you wanna laugh or see amazing almost nonstop Superman action.

Good to hear, and that's kind of what I was expecting. I'm more excited for This is the End but I feel I would enjoy the other three movies more at the theater. So I'm leaning towards Man of Steel and Iron Man3 at the moment. Is Man of Steel worth going 3D?

I've been waiting for Man of Steel forever too, it was disappointing to me as a film. The pace was awful in the first half, scenes weren't edited very well. I didn't feel anything towards any of the characters. There was no build up, no revelation in any of the scenes. The movie just felt disjointed and soulless to me. However, the fighting scenes were undeniably EPIC. I loved the fights between superman and the kryptonians. Overall I'd give it a B-, mainly because I was expecting amazing fight scenes and actually got it. They finally made superman a badass.

No, its not worth the 3D. Whenever you want to watch a movie in 3D, go to Cinemablend. They give reviews for the 3D aspect of films. Star Trek > Man of Steel/Iron Man 3.

I actually really liked the pacing and editing. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen before (at least in a blockbuster movie), and they had to do something like that. They had to get their Superman origin story going quick, cause this movie couldn't afford to be boring. Obviously they defeated that with the action scenes (I still can't get over them..). I will concede that a lot of the characters were lacking depth, but again, I think this was inevitable. I didn't like Costner's role much, but I did enjoy Superman's relationship with his mom.

Anyways, they're already in development with Man of Steel 2 and Justice League, and by the end I was just so excited for those. I think this movie will be a great beginning to a new saga.

Lots of fans and critics hated Batman Begins when it came out. It got better when the sequel came out.

    This is just the beginning.

I don't remember anyone hating batman begins when it first came out but then again I didn't frequent message boards at that time. I really enjoyed begins as an origin for Batman. For MOS, I enjoyed the first 10-15 min. of the origin story but not the rest. Like you I didn't feel Costners character at all. What's the point in paying Costner when any actor could've done what he did. I was expecting somewhat of a chronological scene of events until he finally put the suit on for the first time or take flight for the first time.

I would consider the last part of your post a spoiler, If I had seen it before I saw the movie I would have been pissed.

And well I actually didn't really like Batman Begins when it came out.

I remember people picking it apart. Bale's Batman voice was actually a big deal, with people mocking it and saying it just sounds absurd and you can hardly understand him. Katie Holmes was also criticized, for good reason, her character was written poorly and her acting sucked.

A chronological scene of events leading up to him becoming Superman would have been very generic. Did you not understand it easily enough? I think they did the job while doing it in a novel way.

The camerawork for this movie was insanely good. Again, never seen a blockbuster like it, especially not a superhero movie. I'm very glad they broke the formula, knowing they were going to pack it with action.

I understood the origin story, I just didn't like the transition of the scenes. I would prefer if there wasn't any flashbacks at all. That time could have been better spent on the present Clark or other characters.

I definitely disagree, that was one of my favorite aspects of the movie.

I found Man of Steel to be boring. Not that any one point was actually boring, but the fighting was so repetitive. I found the back story pretty interesting and I liked seeing him trying to fit into society, but by the end I was nearly falling asleep.

I doubt that I'd watch it again, but I'll probably go see the sequel.

I thought it was very "meh" but I've never been a huge fan of superman. I think he's boring. He is invincible with the exception of a rock from his home planet. Batman and ironman is so much better.

The movie would have been better if it was a prequal and it just focused on krypton. That was the best part of the damn movie.

It felt like it was geared towards younger people.

I've seen it four times now and it gets better each time. I've seen it with a bunch of people now, and they all loved it too, but that may just be because some of my enthusiasm rubbed off on them.
