After seeing what he did during the World Championships I now respect his game alot more then I ever did. He's actually one of my favorites now.

Kobe said once in an interview that Reggie Miller was the hardest player to guard but I guess now that Reggie is retired Carmelo takes the title.

Melo is a great offensive player, but he isnt the toughest guard. That is pretty rediculous.

They asked Kobe who is the toughest for HIM to guard... but that is still pretty crazy. I would have thought he would say Wade, LeBron, T-Mac, etc. No disrespect to Carmelo, he is one hell of a player, but I would imagine there are tougher players to guard in the NBA.

It is probably tough for Kobe because he is a SG and Melo is a SF. The size advantage would make it very tough for Kobe. Carmelo though is one heck of a offensive player though he needs to improve the rest of his game to be a complete player.

Melo is very good at that pull up jumper, he showed how good he is at it in the world championships.

True but he misses a lot of free throws and he gets frustrated easily. I guess there is the good and bad of Carmelo's game.

I remember in one of Melo's rookie games he troubled kobe alot. Kobe struggled to guard him because of the size difference and if i remember correctly Melo was posting kobe up. Kobe's always had problems with post up swingman, it aint something new. Probably the reason why he gained the weight. If carmelo ever developed a 3 point shot. Well let's just say, no-one would be able to guard him. And i mean no one.Wade doesn't trouble kobe, ocasionally he blows by kobe but generally no he doesn't. Wade shoots something like 41% against the lakers this season.

melo got this jab step move which is so deceptive, where he watches how you would react...........if you bite then he'll pull up for a jumper but if you don't bite, he'll blow pass by you. Plus he has an outside game with a good post up move, he's not the fastest or the most athletic but he's always been unpredictable in the offensive end.

In my opinion and in a reporter's perspective, Kobe Bryant stated Carmelo is toughest to guard because he knows that Anthony won't be winning the MVP award next season. Kobe could say LeBron or Wade, but then he would be giving them more respect and more consideration for MVP next season. We have to look at it from his perspective, as much I like Carmelo, he isn't the toughest to guard in the league. Basketball players aren't stupid, they rethink what they tell the media and they try to make points to help themselves out in the future.

I'm sure if he really thought about he'd take someone else, but he just threw carmelo's name out there. also, something different and rare about melo's game.. he's not a volume scorer like alot of the nba's top scorers.

Had he thought about it he would've mentioned a tmac, or a ray allen. Or for good humour, Steve Blake :pOut of the big 3, kobe has the most troubles with carmelo. Carmelo's post game is much more refined then the other 2. There's a reason why Kobe never is assigned to him.

I could see how Melo would be really hard to guard. He has a consistent midrange game and is solid going to the rim. He is also big enough to post many players up, and does so effectively. But I cannot see how anyone wouldn't say LeBron is the toughest to guard. On top of the amazing driving ability and good jumpshot, he can dominate the game with his court vision, which gives him a whole 'nother weapon. That's gotta be like hell when he is having a triple double caliber game, no way to stop it.

Again, kobe has problems WITH post up swingman who are bigger then him. Carmelo's post up game is superior to that of Lebron's. That's the real reason why Carmelo is a tougher guard. Some one mentioned earlier on that Kobe mentioned Carmelo because he isn't a threat to Kobe's domination. I don't think there's a conspiracy or kobe is unwilling to give credit when due. Kobe has said many a time that Bowen defends him the best. He constantly praises Wade and lebron whenever their brought up. Only kobe would be accused of such a thing though. It aint something new.

You're right Melo061, Kobe may in fact be the only player in the league that has actually given Bowen the credit he deserves as a defender. Everybody else seems to just bi*ch about him.
